Emo Orchestra featuring Escape the Fate
The Seminal Emo Band is Backed by a Full Orchestra in an Incredibly Unique Performance – Review and Photos of the Emo Orchestra ft. Escape the Fate Concert at the Parker Playhouse in Ft Lauderdale, FL
The evening was abuzz with excitement this Saturday at The Parker Playhouse as emo fans dressed to the nines were treated to an unforgettable concert experience as the Emo Orchestra shared the stage with emo legends Escape the Fate. This innovative concert brought together a unique combination of sweeping orchestral arrangements with the raw, intense energy of a heavy rock show, showcasing an ambitious fusion of genres that both surprised and captivated the audience. The Parker Playhouse was a beautiful place to hold this performance, and with its intimate yet spacious setting it was the perfect backdrop for this genre-blending concert and ensured every fan got an incredible view of the experience.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd took their seats, the Emo Orchestra appeared on the back of the stage as fog pumped into the room and the lights began to kick into gear. The crowd roared with applause as Craig Mabbitt and the rest of Escape the Fate stormed onto the stage, and broke into their first song “Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliché” from their very first album. Watching the band play with a full orchestra was an incredibly special and interesting experience, and probably one of the only times we’ll get to see a heavy band with a full orchestra backing them. The setlist consisted of original Escape the Fate songs along with covers of popular songs form the biggest emo bands in the world, and it was very cool to hear songs that I listened to as a teenager given new life with an orchestral backing.
The concert was broken up into two setlists, with a short break in the middle for people to grab a drink or check out the merch (and to give the musician’s fingers time to rest). Their first setlist featured songs from emo greats like Fall Out Boy, The Used, AFI and of course, My Chemical Romance, expertly played by Pierce the Veil and backed by the Emo Orchestra ensemble. Each arrangement was meticulously crafted to highlight the melancholic and introspective themes of the songs, and the lush string sections added a new depth and richness to the familiar tunes, providing a fresh take on the songs that the fans in attendance have probably heard 100 times before.
After a short break, the bands returned to the stage and broke into the second half of the night’s setlist. Lead vocalist Craig Mabbitt commandeered with stage with his prominent presence, interacted with the crowd and told stories about Escape the Fate’s experiences with the bands whose songs they were playing, drawing fans further into the performance. Setlist two featured songs by All Time Low, New Found Glory, and Hawthorne Heights, and of course some originals from Escape the Fate. Finally, to top off the night on a high note, the group performed My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade“, which had the crowd in an excited uproar.
As the lights dimmed and the crowd dispersed, the sounds echoing in their ears of attendees promised to linger in memories as a night of passionate performances and musical exploration. The merging of strings and electric guitars brought a unique sound that bridged the gap between the classical and heavy genres, creating a memorable experience for attendees. The orchestral backing provided by the Emo Orchestra added a classy, cinematic quality to Escape the Fate’s songs, elevating them to new emotional heights. I can’t wait to see what this tour comes up with next!
