From “4” to Forever: Lou Gramm Returns for Foreigner’s Historic South Florida Performance
The Juke Box Heroes Are Joined by Lou Gramm to Celebrate 50 Years with a Full Play-through of Their Seminal “Foreigner 4” Album – Photos and Feature on the Foreigner Concert at the Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL
There are moments in rock and roll that transcend a typical night out, and Foreigner’s performance last night at the iconic guitar-shaped Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was precisely that. In the midst of their 50th-anniversary celebratory tour, the legendary band delivered a masterful showcase of timeless songwriting, but the night truly belonged to the reunion that fans have dreamt about for years. The heart of the set was a complete performance of the seminal 1981 album *4*, a record that sits at the very peak of the band’s colossal catalog.

From the opening riffs of “Night Life“, it was obvious the crowd was witnessing something special, as some of these songs haven’t been played live in more than 40-years before this tour celebrating the album began. The current lineup fronted by the dynamic Luis Maldonado (who replaced Kelly Hansen after his retirement last year) ripped through the album’s deeper cuts with absolute precision. However, the atmosphere crackled with a different kind of electricity when the Foreigner’s original vocalist Lou Gramm strode onto the stage to reclaim his throne alongside the band for a trio of “4“‘s most electrifying moments. Together, they brought a raw, authentic grit to “Luanne” and “Girl on the Moon“, before plunging the venue into a frenzy with the iconic saxophone intro of “Urgent“.

After navigating through the rest of the tracklist all while mixing in a few “Greatest Hits”, including a soaring “Feels Like The First Time“, the band took a well-earned victory lap with “Juke Box Hero“, one of their most well known songs . As the house lights came up for the encore, Lou returned to the stage and the dual vocal attack of Maldonado and Gramm gave classic tracks a stunning new dimension. The gospel-tinged power ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is” shook the walls of the venue as thousands of voices joined together in unison. Not content with a tender moment, the band closed the night with a blistering, triumphant rendition of “Hot Blooded” ensuring the celebration ended with a ruckus as the fans chanted back every word.
