Camelot Brings the Crown to Boca

The Round Table Gets a Little Rowdy as Camelot Brings Love, Loyalty and a Stirring Score to Life in Boca.

March 31st, 2025

“For one brief shining moment,” the kingdom of Camelot felt alive again, sweeping the audience into a world of chivalry, charm, and just enough royal drama to keep things interesting. The legend of King Arthur isn’t exactly new territory, but this production gives it a pulse that keeps you locked in from the opening note.

Alex Martinez steps into Arthur’s crown with confidence, bringing a thoughtful edge to a king chasing the idea of a fair and noble kingdom. His connection with Guinevere (played by Allyson Rosenblum) has warmth and chemistry, which makes things all the more complicated when Sir Lancelot rides in. And yes, when Jesse Luttrell enters the mix, the temperature on stage rises quickly. The love triangle doesn’t tiptoe around anything. It leans in, creating tension that keeps the audience fully invested.

Musically, the show knows when to have fun and when to hit you right in the chest. “The Lusty Month of May” and “The Simple Joys of Maidenhood” bring a playful energy that feels like a full-on medieval celebration. Meanwhile, “How to Handle a Woman” has Arthur working through love with a mix of humor and honesty that lands with the crowd.

Then comes Lancelot’s “If Ever I Would Leave You,” and the entire room shifts. Luttrell delivers it with a powerful, steady tone that grabs attention and doesn’t let go. You could feel the audience leaning in, and by the end, the applause wasn’t just loud, it was earned. Guinevere answers with “I Loved You Once in Silence,” a moment that trades power for vulnerability and still hits just as hard.

Visually, this one comes dressed to impress. The costumes bring the era to life with rich fabrics, detailed crowns, and gowns that feel straight out of a royal court. It adds just the right amount of spectacle without pulling focus from the performances.

At Wick Theatre, this cast and crew deliver a Camelot that feels lively, emotional, and easy to get lost in. There’s humor, heart, and just enough sword-swinging drama to keep things moving. If you’re looking for a night that blends classic storytelling with strong performances and a few goosebump moments along the way, this one earns its seat at the round table. Grab your tickets before the run ends April 12th.
