“The Devil Wears Prada” Cultivates Chaos in South Florida

A Full Bloom Masterclass of Metal: The Devil Wears Prada’s “Flowers” Tour Delivers a Chaotic, Era-Spanning Breakdown – Photos and Review of the The Devil Wears Prada Concert at the Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Fort Lauderdale’s Revolution Live became a sweltering greenhouse of sound and fury last night as The Devil Wears Prada brought their “Flowers” tour to South Florida, transforming the historic downtown venue into ground zero for a heavy metal hurricane as the infamous Florida rain watered the ecstatic fans that braved the storm to sell the venue out on a Wednesday night. The evening was perfectly structured as a steadily escalating four-act assault on the senses, showcasing the breadth of the current heavy music landscape with a precision that mirrored the headliner’s own evolution from scene upstarts to seasoned metalcore veterans. The night began on a combustible note with I Promised The World, who set an immediate precedent for the hours to follow with an unrelenting ferocity that served as a clarion call for the night. The band ripped through a set that prioritized kinetic energy over pleasantries, compelling the early crowd to shake off the Wednesday night lethargy and commit to the pit.

Following a brief changeover that did little to cool the rising temperature in the room, the baton was passed to the UK’s Split Chain. Hailing from Bristol, the the up-and-coming quintet brought a distinctly different flavor to the proceedings, drenching their hardcore foundation in washes of 90s shoegaze and grungy textures that recalled the hazy melodicism of Deftones and Type O Negative (who they paid tribute to with a cover of “I Dont Wanna Be Me“). Their sound, a wall of dissonant yet lush noise from their debut album “motionblur”, offered a captivating contrast to the straightforward assault of the opener, proving that the “Flowers” tour lineup was curated as much for dynamic textural shifts as it was for sheer decibel level.

As the latecomers shuffled in and the room reached capacity, the evening’s direct support Four Year Strong took the stage to a hero’s welcome that rivaled that of the headliner. The Massachusetts metalcore stalwarts have long held a vice grip on the hearts of South Florida fans, and their performance was proof positive that was still the case. Wielding dual guitars and a catalog built for shouting along, they tore through a set that leaned heavily on crowd favorites like “We All Float Down Here” and the eternally resonant “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)“. The masterclass in pop-punk-adjacent aggression was a perfect bridge between the night’s openers and the crushing metal to come, ensuring the crowd was primed to the point of eruption.

By the time the house lights dimmed and the first notes of “Where the Flowers Never Grow” crept through the PA, Revolution Live had become a pressure cooker, and The Devil Wears Prada’s arrival in the fog was the detonation. Frontman Mike Hranica, a perpetual motion machine of angular shadow and raw-throated fury, commanded the stage while Jeremy DePoyster’s clean vocals soared over the cacophony, providing the essential melodic counterweight that has defined the band’s recent era. After firing off a few newer songs, they dove into “Danger: Wildman” as the first of many treats for their longtime fans.

The setlist was a seamless blend of the band’s mature, atmospheric critically acclaimed album Flowers and their much beloved, breakdown-laden past. New tracks like “Ritual” and “So Low” felt monolithic in the live setting, their weight amplified by Jonathan Gering’s dense keyboard textures and a light show that bathed the stage in searing oranges and stark whites. Yet, it was the strategic deployment of legacy cuts that kept the room unhinged. When the iconic opening riff of “Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over” hit, the floor dissolved into a swirling mass of bodies, and “Dez Moines” tore the roof off the venue.

The band’s playful—if not slightly sardonic—encore began with “Play The Old Sh*t“, before TDWP took own advice and ripped through “Assistant to the Regional Manager” and “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” as the pit spun in a deserved victory lap. In a venue that has hosted everyone from pre-fame Lady Gaga and Chappell Roan to metal legends Slayer, Revolution Live hosted yet another night to remember. Last night’s show proved that while “Flowers” may be the theme of the new album & tour, The Devil Wears Prada’s sound remains firmly rooted in beautifully executed chaos.
