Disturbed Celebrates 25 Years of The Sickness with Electrifying Performance – Review of the Disturbed Concert at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL

Last Night, Disturbed brought their monumental 25th Anniversary of The Sickness tour to the Amerant Bank Arena (home of the Florida Panthers) in Sunrise, Florida, delivering a powerhouse performance that left fans absolutely exhilarated. The iconic Chicago alt-metal band treated the crowd to a full playthrough of their groundbreaking debut album The Sickness, followed by a second set packed with their greatest hits. Acting as a cherry on top of an already delicious cake, the evening began with strong opening performances from Nothing More and Daughtry, who warmed up the crowd with dynamic sets.

Kicking things off, Nothing More ignited the crowd with their explosive blend of hard rock and progressive metal. The Texas-based band, known for their electrifying live shows, tore through a setlist packed with fan favorites like Jenny and Go To War, and they even had a guest appearance from the main man David Draiman himself during “Angel Song“. Frontman Jonny Hawkins delivered his signature high-energy performance, with the entire band leaping into the crowd to play the finale of their last song This Is the Time (Ballast)“. Nothing More’s raw intensity and technical prowess made it clear why they’ve become one of modern rock’s most exciting acts, leaving the audience buzzing in anticipation for the rest of the night.

Daughtry followed with his signature blend of post-grunge anthems and emotionally charged rock ballads. Fronted by American Idol alum Chris Daughtry, the band kicked off their set with jams like The Reckoning and World On Fire“, showcasing Daughtry’s unmistakable voice and commanding stage presence. The crowd sang along to every word of their smash hit It’s Not Overand their cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart), turning the arena into a massive chorus. Balancing hard-hitting rock with heartfelt melodies like an acoustic version of Home, Daughtry proved why they’ve remained a staple on rock radio for nearly two decades, perfectly setting the tone for Disturbed’s headlining performance.

As the lights dimmed and cheers echoed throughout the arena, Disturbed stormed onto the stage, launching into “The Sickness in its entirety. From the crushing opener Voices to the explosive “Stupify” and their famous smash-hit, Down with the Sickness“, the band flawlessly recreated the album that catapulted them to fame in 2000. Frontman David Draiman commanded the stage with his signature growls and soaring vocals, while guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer, and drummer Mike Wengren delivered the album’s aggressive riffs and thunderous rhythms with precision as they burned through “Fear” and “Numb“.

The stage production was absolutely incredible, with the band bringing out everything including the kitchen sink for the show in the form of fireworks, lasers, inflatable backdrops, flares, LED screens and of course, tons of fiery pyrotechnics. Disturbed brought out several guests during their performance, with David’s son Samuel joining the band onstage to sing “Want” and Nonpoint’s Elias Soriano also appearing to perform a cover of Tears for Fears hit song “Shout“. The stage show was also very theatrical, with Disturbed doing multiple costume changes and David even being “electrocuted” onstage for “The Sickness” album finisher “Meaning of Life“. After a small intermission, the band returned to perform a small set of greatest hits including “Ten Thousand Fists” and their haunting cover of “The Sound of Silence“.

As the night closed with an encore of Inside the Fire and The Light“, fans left the venue buzzing, having witnessed a career-spanning spectacle from one of modern metal’s most influential acts. This tour not only honored 25 years of “The Sickness but also highlighted Disturbed’s evolution over the past two and a half decades. From nu-metal pioneers to chart-topping rock icons, Disturbed has remained a dominant force in heavy music, and their Amerant Bank Arena show was a true testament to their staying power. Blending nostalgia with fresh energy, this tour is a must-see event for metal fans—a celebration of an album that defined a genre and a band that refuses to slow down.
