Just like their song “Saturday in the Park,” Chicago brought their wall of sound this past Saturday night to Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. With their signature blend of jazz, rock, and pop, the 10-piece band took the stage, led by original members Lee Loughnane on trumpet and the ever-energetic James Pankow on trombone. Pankow, known for his high energy, commanded the stage—moving throughout and getting the sold-out crowd on their feet.

Now in their 56th straight year of touring, Chicago came out strong, showing off their musical talents and transporting us back to 1972 with “Dialogue Parts 1 & 2.” They continued with a myriad of classic hits, leading into their chart-topping single from 1976, “If You Leave Me Now,” then moved into a medley of fan favorites including “Make Me Smile,” “Colour My World,” and “Now More Than Ever,” before taking a short intermission.

After the break, the band returned with renewed energy, launching into 1978’s “Alive Again,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is,” and “Old Days.” That was followed by two classics from their hugely successful, multi-platinum 1984 album Chicago 17“Hard Habit to Break” and “You’re the Inspiration.” Then came a phenomenal drum and percussion solo featuring Alfredo Reyes Jr. and Ramon Yslas, which had everyone jumping.

Throughout the show, an amazing video played on the screen, allowing the audience to relive the band’s storied concert history. It was a treat to hear these timeless classics while also seeing the band in their younger, vibrant days. At one point, the video displayed all of their album covers, prompting audience members to reminisce and share memories of each one.

As the night neared its end, Chicago closed with 1982’s “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” followed by “Saturday in the Park” and “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day.” The crowd was fully immersed in the nostalgia, dancing and singing along as they were taken back to the ’80s.

After briefly leaving the stage to thunderous applause, the band returned for a powerful encore, finishing with “Free” and the rousing “25 or 6 to 4,” which had the sold-out crowd on their feet until the very last note.

By the end of the show, Chicago proved that even after 58 years, their sound has truly stood the test of time—and they have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
