Waters and Agassi Lead Action Packed Pickleball Night

Dinks, Drinks and Down to the Wire Drama as Pickleball Slam Ignites a Roaring Frenzy.

April 15th, 2026

Before the paddles ever touched the ball, there was already something different in the air.

Speaking with Andre Agassi and James Blake, one thing stood out immediately. This was not a casual exhibition. There was joy, yes, but underneath it sat real competition, real tension and a respect for how quickly this game can humble even legends.

Agassi described the rhythm of pickleball as a balance between urgency and calm, a constant push and pull that forces decisions earlier than expected.

“There are so many little margins out here,” Agassi said. “We felt the tension, the enthusiasm, the passion. We love this game. We love tennis. They can play happy in the sandbox together.”

Blake echoed that feeling in his own way, noting that once play begins, the looseness disappears and the pressure settles in quickly.

That blend showed up immediately once the matches got underway.

The opening match set the tone early. James Blake jumped out in front and built a solid lead before Anna Leigh Waters clawed her way back to tie things at 10. Blake controlled most of the game, but Waters flipped the script late, surged ahead 14 to 12 and closed it out 16 to 13. The crowd, heavily leaning toward the women, made every swing feel amplified.

Between matches, the Slam crew kept the energy rolling by launching official pickleballs into the stands while fans scrambled to grab a piece of the moment.

Anna Leigh Waters carried that momentum into the next matchup, exploding out to a 9 to 1 lead and cruising to a 15 to 5 win over James Blake. Just like that, she sealed the best of three at 2 to 0 and firmly shifted the tone of the night.

A T-shirt toss followed, keeping the crowd engaged before the next wave of competition. Adding to the spectacle, Steffi Graf, Agassi’s wife and one of the greatest women’s tennis players of all time, joined in on the fun by tossing T-shirts into the crowd, drawing an extra roar from the stands.

Andre Agassi then took the court against Genie Bouchard, jumping ahead 7 to 3. Even in the middle of competition, the respect between players stood out. After a long rally, Agassi applauded Bouchard for a well-earned point, a small moment that reflected the tone he had described earlier.

Bouchard challenged a close call late, but Agassi held steady and secured a 15 to 11 win.

Game 2 flipped completely. Bouchard stormed out to a 5 to 0 lead after a timeout and never looked back, dominating 15 to 4. The earlier talk of rhythm and adjustment started to play out in real time.

Game 3 brought things back under control for Agassi, who raced out to an 8 to 2 lead with both players pressing the net. With Blake offering coaching from the sidelines between points, Agassi closed it out 15 to 5.

With the matches split, everything came down to doubles, and that is where the night truly opened up.

The pace quickened, the rallies lengthened, and all four players repeatedly met at the net. The men built what looked like a comfortable lead at 19 to 11, only for it to shrink quickly to 19 to 16 as the women battled back.

What followed turned into a full-on grind. The score climbed point by point, 20 to 19, then even again at 20 to 20, then 21 to 21, 22 to 22 and 23 to 23. Every rally carried weight. Every touch at the net felt like it could decide the match.

The men finally broke through and closed it out 25 to 23 in a finish that had the sold-out crowd fully locked in, even if many had filtered in late.

Game two of doubles saw the men jump ahead again 11 to 7, mixing soft touch shots near the kitchen line with bursts of power. One tense moment saw Agassi accidentally fire a ball toward Waters’ face, immediately apologizing, a reminder that even in competition, control and respect still matter.

The men held on again, finishing 18 to 15 and sealing the overall win.

Along the way, fans were reminded of just how much greatness still lives in these moments. Agassi, a Grand Slam legend, continues to find new ways to compete, while Blake’s athleticism showed flashes of what more time in the sport could unlock.

And just as they mentioned before stepping onto the court, this was more than a result. It felt like a shared space where tennis and pickleball meet, where legends still feel pressure, still adjust, and still chase improvement in a game that keeps evolving.

Pickleball Slam 4 delivered the spectacle. The players delivered the intensity. The crowd brought the energy. Together, it all blended into a night that never slowed down.
