Greta Van Fleet

The New Heroes of Blues Rock Bring Their Stylish Sound to the Masses of the Hard Rock – Review and Photos of the Greta Van Fleet Concert at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL
They say that “Third Time is the Charm”…and that was definitely the case this past Wednesday March 8th, as the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida was filled with young rock enthusiasts eagerly waiting for Greta Van Fleet to take the stage. After having to cancel the South Florida dates of their shows due to various illnesses and logistic concerns, the soon-to-be legendary band finally made it down to our corner of the Unites States. Starting off the night were opening acts Houndmouth and Robert Finley, who warmed up the crowd with their unique and energetic performances.
First up was Robert Finley, a legendary blues musician hailing from Louisiana. Finley’s soulful voice captivated the audience, as he performed a mix of his original songs from his most recent albums “Goin’ Platinum” and “Sharecroppers’ Son“, which he released on fellow bluesman Dan Auerbach’s Nonesuch Records. His backing band did an amazing job, and his guitarist performed some astonishing solos in between songs. Finishing up his time on stage with “Get It While You Can“, Robert thanked the crowd before disappearing into the back of the shadowy auditorium.
Up next was Houndmouth, a band hailing from Indiana, who brought a southern twangy flair to the stage with their combination of blues, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll. Their set was filled with catchy riffs and powerful vocals, which got the audience on their feet and ready for more. Displaying songs from all throughout their varied discography, the band sounded incredibly tight and I especially liked the singer/guitarist Matt Myers’ impromptu jam sessions. Houndmouth ended their set with what is perhaps their most popular song, “Sedona“, and the long wait for the main event began as the roadies flipped the stage for Greta Van Fleet.
As the lights dimmed for the final time and the crowd roared, Greta Van Fleet finally took the stage shrouded by a giant curtain obscuring the stage, which dropped as soon as they kicked into their first song “Built by Nations” which immediately had the audience singing and dancing along. Their setlist was mostly a mix of songs from their most recent album “The Battle at Gardens Gate,” as well as some older material from their first EP and Album. The four-piece band from Michigan, consisting of brothers Josh, Jake, and Sam Kiszka, and drummer Danny Wagner, have been praised for their classic rock sound reminiscent of bands like Led Zeppelin and Cream despite being from the younger generation of musicians.
Lead singer Josh Kiszka’s powerful vocals were a highlight of the show, as he effortlessly hit high notes and commanded the stage with his charismatic presence. Jake Kiszka’s impressive guitar solos and Sam Kiszka’s bass lines added to the band’s dynamic sound, while Danny Wagner’s drumming kept the energy high throughout the entire set. I also really enjoyed the costumes the band members were wearing, and the Pyro effects were super cool as well! One of the standout moments of the night was the encore, when Greta Van Fleet performed their hit singles “Age of Man” and “Highway Tune“. The audience sang along to every word, and the band’s energy on stage was contagious!
Overall, Greta Van Fleet’s performance at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida was a memorable night for rock fans. Their classic sound combined with their youthful energy and stage presence made for an unforgettable concert experience. With their rising popularity and impressive live performances, it’s clear that Greta Van Fleet is a band to watch in the coming years.
