Art, Appetites and Advocacy: Ann Storck Center’s Annual Celebrity Chefs Event Inspires and Delights.

April 26th, 2024

“All Hearts. All Abilities.” That is the line that the people of the Ann Storck Center live by, and it could be felt all throughout the room. The 28th Annual Celebrity Chefs Event hosted by the Ann Storck Center was an evening that tantalized the taste buds and warmed the heart. Held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, the event was a blend of culinary artistry, philanthropic purpose and pure entertainment.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a tower of charcuterie and an open bar. This overflowing spread of cheeses, fruits and artisan breads set the tone for a night of indulgence. As attendees gathered and mingled, the captivating sounds of an electric violin filled the air. The violinist’s renditions of popular music created a vibrant and modern atmosphere.

Throughout the evening, the artistic flair continued with a live painting demonstration by Joseph Gormley. The goal of the painting was for attendees to make a connection with the piece as they were able to paint a part of the canvas. Later, that same painting was auctioned during the event. It was a delightful way to appreciate art.

Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction. In the center of the room sat a large table with auction items, the array of items offered was impressive, featuring everything from luxury getaways to one-of-a-kind experiences such as glass bottom boat tours and VIP sporting events. It was a fantastic way to snag a coveted treasure while supporting a worthy cause.

Attendees were then led into the main ballroom where they were treated to a vast selection of tastings from South Florida’s top restaurants, breweries and bakeries. Each bite was a journey of flavor, showcasing the region’s diverse culinary scene. With 21 restaurants to choose from, guests had a wide selection of tastings. There were several cuisines ranging from Italian, Mexican and Peruvian, which included a variety of dishes from pork belly tacos, crab and gouda grilled cheese to caviar and lionfish ceviche. Guests could finish the night with a sweet treat, whether it was key lime pie, mini cupcakes or chocolate eclairs.

The evening took a heartwarming turn as the after-school program children from the Ann Storck Center took center stage. Their renditions of songs such as “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder, brought smiles to everyone’s faces and served as a beautiful reminder of the impact the organization has on young lives.

This spirit of appreciation continued with a moving award ceremony. The Ann Storck Center recognized members of the community who have shown unwavering dedication, passion and commitment to their mission. Witnessing these individuals acknowledged for their service was a powerful testament to the collaborative effort that fuels the organization’s success. The awards and winners are as follows:

The energy and love for the center could be felt all around as the “Bid for Kids” segment commenced. This live auction was all for the kids, as items included promethean boards, classroom furniture, 12 months’ supply of school supplies, iPads with programs for therapy and virtual classroom equipment. The excitement was palpable as paddles flew high, driven by the increasing roar of claps and desire to contribute to a meaningful cause. After the auction, guests were encouraged to stay, eat and drink the night away.

The event raised over $250,000 to support the Center’s mission, which is throughout all its programs and services to discover ability and build independence so that individuals live happier, more independent, fulfilling lives.

South Florida’s community leaders, philanthropists and influencers were among the 350 guests who raised awareness, funds and “glasses” for the Ann Storck Center, which accommodates 96 permanent residents and serves more than 300 clients daily through an array of critical care, learning and ability focused programs.

The Ann Storck Center’s Celebrity Chefs Event was more than just a fundraiser; it was an unforgettable evening that celebrated community, artistry and of course, delicious food. The dedication to detail, from the live entertainment to the delectable bites, was truly commendable. It was an event that left a lasting impression, not just on the palate, but also on the spirit.

Miami Shines for the Luminous Advocacy Project

The Light Up the Night Gala brought stars, changemakers, and supporters together for a magical evening dedicated to breast health awareness.

September 28, 2025

Miami knows how to throw a party with a purpose, and on Friday, September 26, the Mayfair House Hotel & Garden bloomed into The Enchanted Garden for Luminous Global’s 4th Annual Light Up the Night Gala. The evening was equal parts glamour and heart, with guests arriving in style to support a mission that is transforming breast health awareness.

Supermodel and Real Housewives of New York original star Kelly Killoren Bensimon turned heads on the pink carpet, where she was joined by Luminous Global founder and CEO Marylin Dans and Florida House Representative Fabian Basabe. The arrivals set the tone for a night that was as celebratory as it was meaningful.

Inside the garden-inspired ballroom, the setting was pure magic. Guests sipped champagne beneath twinkling lights, live music floated through the air, and conversations flowed as advocates, changemakers, and community leaders came together. The energy of the room made it clear that this was not just another Miami gala. It was a gathering of people determined to make a difference.

The program honored this year’s awardees whose dedication to advocacy continues to shape the future of breast health. Their stories brought both smiles and tears, reminding everyone of the power of education, awareness, and early action. Proceeds from the evening directly supported The Luminous Advocacy Project, a nonprofit focused on promoting early detection, advancing education, and ensuring women everywhere have access to equitable medical care.

Highlights of the Evening

Guests were introduced to Luminous, the first breast familiarity tool designed to give users a visual reference of their own breast health. Presented as an app and awareness lifestyle guide, it helps women and men build consistent habits for self-familiarity. Luminous does not replace medical exams but complements them by empowering people to recognize changes early.

The gala also spotlighted the organization’s global outreach efforts. Upcoming missions include Medical Mission Honduras 2025: Pathway to Wellness, where volunteers and medical professionals will bring diagnostic care, health education, and vital breast health services to underserved communities abroad.

On the educational side, guests learned about the project’s commitment to spreading awareness through multilingual resources and school outreach programs, ensuring that communities both local and international have the knowledge they need to take charge of their health. The initiative’s vision also includes working toward FDA Class III approval for its device, a milestone that would make this technology more widely available.

A Night That Truly Glowed

By the time the music quieted and the last glasses were raised, it was clear that the night had lived up to its name. The gala was beautiful, it was fun, and it carried a glow of hope that left everyone inspired. Guests walked away with more than memories of an enchanting evening. They carried with them the reminder that awareness is action, and that together, Miami’s community can shine a light on change.
