Mia Market – REVIEW
A variety of appetites are sure to be satisfied with Mia Market’s diverse offerings.
January 20th, 2021
Located in the Design District of Miami, the newly rebranded MIA Market food hall offers a diverse selection of food concepts for every taste. The setup has been modified to accommodate Covid-19 safety guidelines, but still offers a great dining experience. Recently, a few new vendors have been added to the mix. Each restaurant is locally owned, but gives guests a different taste from around the world. Whether you are looking for lunch, dinner or just a drink, MIA Market is a must try.
Ruby Dee’s offers a vast variety of vegetable focused dishes. From salads, sandwiches and even a few raw items, chef Daniel Roy offers a tasty variety of rich seasonal flavors. We tried the Kusshi oysters, which are delivered fresh from the Northern Pacific. Served on a half shell in a cucumber mint mignonette with paprika oil, the oysters were very rich in flavor and had great portion sizes. Ruby Dee’s offers a menu with a little bit for any type of appetite.
As a new addition to the MIA Market, Foirette specializes in hay brined rotisserie chicken. The unique brining method leaves the chicken tender and succulent. The jus adds the perfect touch to the chicken, which is already rich with flavor. Foirette offers quarter and half chicken portions, as well as salads and sandwiches. They are a must if you are in the mood for chicken.
However, those in the mood for Italian, Dal Plin offers real authentic dishes passed down for generations in Milan. Named after a ravioli dish from Chef Elisabetta’s hometown, the restaurant strives to be the best provider of Italian pasta in South Florida. We tried the most popular dish on the menu, Truffle Fettuccine. The freshness of the pasta is truly evident and enhanced by the truffle butter. The truffle shavings add to the presentation and rich flavors of this simple dish. It’s just one great piece of a fairly large and diverse selection of authentic Italian dishes. With several vegan dishes as well as salads and desserts to choose from, Dal Pin offers a great selection for any type of diet and taste.
Jaffa Israeli Kitchen and wine bar offers the finest tastes of Israel and the Mediterranean. Chef Yaniv Cohen showcases a variety of Israeli dishes in many different forms. Sandwiches, salads, pita platters and rice bowls make up the extensive menu filled with traditional dishes and spices of the area. With several vegan options, there is something for every diet. We tried the Chicken Shawarma. Chef Yaniv knocked it out of the park with very tender chicken and a great blend of Mediterranean spices. The portion size was massive and thankfully we were able to take some home. Jaffa also offers desserts and each week has a different special of dairy free ice cream. Jaffa is a staple of MIA Market and can be found as soon as you walk in.
Yasu Tanaka offers an authentic selection of Japanese sushi and rolls. Fresh and prepared based on Japanese tradition, each dish is offered as nigiri or sashimi. With several different types of tuna, salmon, jack, roe and uni, each dish is prepared with traditional practices and principles from Japan. There are choices of single items platters of 8 or 10, which is plenty of flavor to choose from. Each item can also be prepared as a hand roll. I was really impressed with the professionalism of the owner/chef. The presentation and the passion displayed describing each dish made for an excellent experience. This was also some of the best sashimi I have ever eaten and is a must try at the MIA Market.
All in all, the MIA market is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. They offer a very extensive variety of food between the many restaurants. They also have a bar with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bart the bartender was very attentive and knew the perfect drink at our request. The presentation was excellent and he knew the perfect drink to complement any dish in the market. MIA market is the perfect place to stop for a bite or a drink while in Miami’s Design District.
