Mudvayne : The Psychotherapy Sessions
The Legendary Costumed Metal Band Kicked Off Their First Headlining Tour in More Than 13 Years With A Little Help From Their Friends – Photos and Review of the Mudvayne, Coal Chamber, GWAR, Nonpoint and Butcher Babies Concert at the iThink Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL
The iThink Amphitheater in West Palm Beach was transformed into a thrilling metal haven this past Thursday when the mighty Mudvayne took to the stage for an unforgettable night of headbanging, mosh pits, and pure musical intensity. The concert, which featured a stacked stellar lineup of opening acts including Butcher Babies, Nonpoint, GWAR, and Coal Chamber, proved to be a riveting experience that left the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

The evening kicked off with the fierce energy of Butcher Babies, who wasted no time in unleashing their explosive stage presence on the early comers. With their powerful vocal performances and dynamic interactions with the crowd, the band succeeded in setting the tone for the electrifying night ahead. Nonpoint followed suit, delivering a high-octane set that further fueled the anticipation for the headliners. The crowd was fully engaged, chanting and pumping their fists in the air as Nonpoint’s relentless energy surged through the amphitheater, and lead singer Elias (himself a South Florida local) brought the vocal fire to compliment Florida’s scorching heat.

Next up was the one-of-a-kind GWAR, who brought their theatrical and over-the-top performance to the stage. From their outrageous costumes and epic props to the “guest stars” (including a surprise appearance from Rootin’ Tootin’ Vladimir Putin), GWAR’s show was an outlandish spectacle that blended humor, horror, and heavy metal in a way that only they can master. The crowd embraced the madness, fully enjoying the intergalactic chaos that GWAR brought with them. By the end of their set, fake blood covered the front row of the crowd like some sort of alternate reality SeaWorld, and the red-soaked fans were happy to have witnessed the spectacle firsthand.

As the night progressed, the atmosphere at the iThink Amphitheater reached a fever pitch, eagerly anticipating the long-awaited return of Coal Chamber. The nu-metal pioneers did not disappoint, delivering a setlist packed with their classic hits such as “Loco“, igniting a sense of nostalgia in the audience. Dez Fafara’s powerful vocals and the band’s tight musicianship resonated with longtime fans and newcomers alike, making it clear that Coal Chamber’s music has stood the test of time.

Finally, the moment everyone had been eagerly awaiting arrived as the masked legends in Mudvayne took the stage. The crowd erupted into deafening cheers as the band launched into a thunderous opening number “Determined“. The group’s precision and sheer intensity were awe-inspiring, and the chemistry between band members was palpable. Chad Gray’s versatile vocals, Ryan Martinie’s mind-blowing bass skills, Greg Tribbett’s searing guitar riffs, and Matt McDonough’s powerhouse drumming combined to create an electrifying experience that left no doubt about Mudvayne’s musical prowess.

The band’s setlist was a perfect blend of fan favorites and deep cuts into newer material, ensuring that longtime devotees and recent converts were equally captivated throughout the performance. From the aggressive “Internal Primates Forever” to the hauntingly melodic “World So Cold“, Mudvayne showcased their artistic range and left a lasting impression on the audience. Chad made several speeches throughout the night espousing the importance of mental health and taking care of each other, and the band even played a cover of The Police’s “King of Pain“. As the concert came to a close, the cheers and applause were deafening, encouraging the band to come out and deliver an insane encore in the form of their most famous songs “Dig” and “Happy?“. Mudvayne’s triumphant return to headlining the stage after their extended hiatus was well worth the wait, and the supporting acts provided a diverse and powerful lineup that catered to a broad spectrum of metal fans.
