Asking Alexandria Bring All Their Friends to Florida
The Legendary British Metalcore Outfit Delivers an Incredible Show to South Florida – Review and Photos of the Asking Alexandria Concert at the Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale, FL
Metal fans were lined up around the block this Sunday night to see metalcore legends Asking Alexandria light up the night with their sold-out concert, featuring a stacked lineup including Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive and NERV. Taking place at the outdoor portion of Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale, the venue is known for its intimate setting that guarantees a visceral, in-your-face live music experience to each fan. The aptly named “All My Friends” Tour brought together an excellent combination of hot newer bands and well known veterans in the metalcore scene, resulting in fans both old and new coming to witness the spectacle.
NERV were first up to take the stage, and the fast-rising band set a fierce tone for the night. Their performance was a compelling blend of aggressive riffs and melodic choruses, showcasing singer Dillon Jones’s raw talent as well as the absurd chops of the group’s guitarists. The group mainly displayed tracks from their debut album “We’re All Patients Here” which was recently released, and the band’s ability to engage with the audience, despite being the opening act, highlighted their potential and set a high bar for energy and engagement.
Following NERV, The Word Alive took over with an electrifying set, despite some small technical difficulties in the beginning of the set. Also known for their technical proficiency and dynamic stage presence, The Word Alive delivered a mix of old favorites and tracks from their brand new album (aptly named “Hard Reset“, after the band went through some line-up changes in the past few years), and each track was performed with precision and passion. Vocalist Telle Smith captivated the audience with his intense energy and emotional depth, and the band still delivered a great set despite the technical setbacks at the beginning.
As the anticipation built for the main event, Memphis May Fire stormed the stage to bring the heavy to the masses. They opened with “Make Believe“, unleashing a burst of energy that never waned. The band played a setlist that focused mainly on their latest album “Remade in Misery“, but also featured songs that spanned their entire career. Tracks like “Left for Dead” and “The Sinner” were standout moments, and there was even an acoustic version of “Miles Away“. Lead vocalist Matty Mullins engaged the crowd with his charismatic presence, ensuring that everyone felt like a part of the experience. Memphis May Fire finished up their time on stage with “Blood and Water” as the crowd cheered for more.
After a long wait, the highlight of the night came when Asking Alexandria finally took the stage, and the British band brought a raw, palpable energy that resonated through the venue. Kicking off their show with “Closure“, their set was a perfect blend of old hits and new material, with songs like “Where Did It Go” and “To The Stage” eliciting loud sing-alongs from the crowd. Danny Worsnop’s vocals were a powerhouse of emotion, driving home the depth and intensity of their music, and he sounded great despite some technical issues. We even got some acoustic songs like “Someone, Somewhere” and a cover of “I Want It That Way“. The lighting and visual effects added an extra layer of immersion to the performances, creating an atmosphere that was both dramatic and engaging. Of course, the band saved the best for last, finishing up their time on stage with their most popular songs “A Prophecy” and “The Final Episode“, as well as a ripping encore in the form of “Alone in a Room“.
In all, the concert at Revolution Live was more than just a display of musical talent; it was a celebration of the metalcore genre. Both Memphis May Fire and Asking Alexandria, supported aptly by NERV and The Word Alive, showcased the vibrancy and resilience of the South Florida scene, leaving fans with a night that will be memorable for nights to come.
