The Offspring’s Noodles Gets Supercharged Talking About New Tour, Classic Hits and the Power of Punk Rock.

June 9th, 2025

By Scott Shapiro – South Florida Insider

This summer, punk rock juggernauts The Offspring are cranking things up to 11 with their Supercharged world tour, kicking off July 11th in none other than West Palm Beach. Joined by fellow rock heavyweights Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory, the tour promises a nostalgic punch of high-octane energy with a few surprises.

“Floridians are crazy,” guitarist Noodles joked when asked why the band chose West Palm Beach to open the tour. “It’s gonna be a crazy show… we’ll be doing production rehearsals there too, so we’ll be ready to go.”

If you were blasting punk and emo in your bedroom two decades ago, this lineup might feel like your dream playlist come to life. “We’ve wanted to tour with Jimmy Eat World forever,” Noodles said, citing admiration for their songs and showmanship. “And we’ve done a bunch of shows with New Found Glory, they’re always a blast.” Pairing these forces together made it a “no-brainer,” he added, hinting at the shared energy the bands hope to bring to each stop.

That energy is matched by the band’s new material. Their latest album Supercharged builds on creative momentum that began during the pandemic, as the band was wrapping up 2021’s Let the Bad Times Roll. “We got really creative in the studio. Dexter’s songwriting took off, and we just rode that wave,” Noodles explained. While some songs are still steeped in angst and frustration, the album leans more upbeat, with “fun, straightforward rock and roll barn burners.”

Even with new music making waves like the chart-topping “Make it Alright,” the band’s classic hits continue to dominate streaming platforms. “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid” both surpassed a billion plays on Spotify. “It’s hard to wrap your head around a number like that,” Noodles said. “But it’s amazing to see how the music still resonates — we still feel like the Davids taking on the Goliaths of the industry.”

A big part of their continued relevance lies in how younger generations are discovering the band. “It’s really all about social media now,” Noodles said, noting how platforms like TikTok and the resurgence of vinyl keep fans engaged in different ways. “My son-in-law runs a record store, so I love seeing vinyl keeping the spirit alive,” he added.

The band is also playing some of the most iconic venues in the country on this tour, like The Forum and Jones Beach. With those bigger venues comes a new kind of challenge. “At smaller clubs, it’s easy to interact with fans,” he said. “At larger venues, we’ve found creative ways to still involve them—like putting fans on the big screen behind us. It’s not stage diving like the old days, but it keeps the spirit alive.”

They’re also mindful of affordability. With Live Nation’s Ticket to Summer campaign offering $30 tickets, Noodles emphasized the importance of making concerts accessible. “When you’re young, that’s when music speaks to you most,” he said. “We don’t want anyone missing out because tickets are too expensive.”

When he’s not performing, Noodles has plenty to be excited about outside of music. “Right now, the thing I’m most excited about is my granddaughter — she just turned eight months,” he said with a big smile. He’s also recently taken up surfing again and finds peace out on the water. “I’ve been paddling a lot lately, but every once in a while, I’ll catch a good wave. I’m doing best on my longboard right now — just bought a nice new single-fin.”

As for what fans can expect on tour, he’s hopeful for some surprises along the way. “We haven’t talked to the other bands yet about doing a collab, but we’ve been doing that more and more,” he said, citing on-stage moments with Ed Sheeran, Brian May, Sum 41, and Simple Plan. “It’s something we never used to do because we didn’t think we were good enough musicians to pull it off, but now we’re having a blast with it.”

The Offspring’s signature humor is still very much alive as well. When asked what a hypothetical Offspring-themed restaurant would look like, Noodles laughed and said, “I’d call it Dexter’s New Approach — after the X song, ‘The Have Nots.’ It’d be a cool, dark-wood rock and roll bar with Guinness on draft, great lagers, vodka, and tequila. And yeah, bowls of ramen for the people who’ve had too much to drink.”

Quirky tour moments are nothing new for the band either. “We had a Jägermeister machine on the bus at one point — those big ones where you screw the bottles in. Dexter still loves it. I can’t touch that stuff anymore,” he said. “One time we even had a bartender in a bunny suit backstage. That was on our rider. Just once.”

Reflecting on the road, Noodles admitted the band still keeps it fun even after all these years. “We’ll secretly change lyrics on stage and try to catch each other in the act,” he said. “It keeps things light. We’re just having a great time doing what we love.”

When asked what advice he’d give to a younger version of himself, Noodles didn’t hesitate: “He wouldn’t listen,” he said, laughing. “Oppositional defiance runs deep in the Noodles family. But I do wish I’d studied music a little more — maybe learned some theory. Then again, maybe that would’ve messed everything up.”

Whether it’s through decades-old anthems or fresh new material, The Offspring show no signs of slowing down. Their blend of high energy, raw honesty, and humor continues to strike a chord with audiences old and new — and this tour is shaping up to be a celebration of all of it.
