Progressive Metalcore Masters Bring a Night of Metal Mayhem to South Florida – Photos and Review of the Born of Osiris Concert at the Banyan Live in West Palm Beach, FL
The Banyan Live in West Palm Beach became the perfect haven for metal enthusiasts this post-Valentines weekend as progressive deathcore titans Born of Osiris took the stage, delivering a performance that was nothing short of electrifying. The show was nightlong celebration of heavy music, featuring an absolutely stacked lineup of opening acts—Lost in Separation, Axty, Entheos, and Within Destruction—each bringing their unique flavor to the stage and setting the tone for an unforgettable night.
The evening kicked off with Lost in Separation, a band that seamlessly blended melodic metalcore with atmospheric elements. Their set was a perfect introduction to the night, with soaring clean vocals, crushing breakdowns, and emotionally charged growls. Tracks like “Drowning” and “Waking Misery” from their first EP drew in OG fans the crowd, and they showcased their latest album SABERTOOTH with “Dakhma” and “Persepolis“. Next up was Axty, a band that brought a fresh, modern take on progressive metal. Their technical prowess and dynamic stage presence were on full display as they tore through their setlist, starting out with “Take Me Down“. With intricate guitar work, thunderous drums, and a mix of harsh and clean vocals, Axty left a lasting impression on the audience as they played tracks from their most recent album Hannya, proving why they quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene.
The energy in the room continued to build as Entheos took the stage. Known for their relentless blend of technical death metal and djent, Entheos delivered a performance that was both brutal and mesmerizing. Frontwoman Chaney Crabb commanded the stage with her ferocious growls and intense presence, while the bands drummer and studio mastermind Navene Koperweis showcased his virtuosity with complex fills and pummeling rhythms. Songs like “Absolute Zero” and “I Am The Void” had the crowd headbanging in unison, while tracks “All For Nothing” and “A Thousand Days” showed off their latest EP An End To Everything.
The final opening act, Within Destruction, brought a unique, chaotic and unrelenting energy to the stage. Hailing from Slovenia, the band’s unique fusion of deathcore and anime elements created a sound that was as heavy as it was innovative. Their set was a whirlwind of breakdowns, blast beats, and guttural vocals, with tracks like “Cybergirl” and “Demon Child” from their upcoming album Animetal inciting mosh pits and crowd surfers.Within Destruction’s performance was a perfect lead-in to the night’s headliners as they finished up with “Deathwish” and “No Way Out”, leaving the audience buzzing with anticipation.
As the lights dimmed for the final time and the intro music began to play, the crowd erupted in cheers, signaling the arrival of Born of Osiris. As the “BOO Crew” appeared on stage amidst a smattering of applause, the band took their place front and center with an undeniable presence. From the first note of “Open Arms to Damnation“, it was clear that this was going to be a special performance. Guitarists Lee McKinney and Nick Rossi showcased their technical mastery, weaving together intricate riffs and solos, while drummer Cameron Losch delivered a powerhouse performance behind the kit. Vocalist Ronnie Canizaro’s commanding growls and cleans added emotional peaks and valleys to the music, with the lyrics connecting with the crowd on a visceral level.
Throughout their set, Born of Osiris treated fans to a mix of old and new material, including fan favorites like “Brace Legs”, “Bow Down” and “Rosecrance” while still teasing some tracks from their upcoming, yet-unnamed album. Each song was met with thunderous applause and enthusiastic mosh-pits, proving the band’s enduring appeal. The venue’s visuals and lighting added an extra layer of intensity to the performance, creating an immersive experience that left the audience in awe. As the final notes of “Machine” echoed through the venue, the crowd erupted into cheers and applause, a testament to the incredible performance Born of Osiris’ just put on. The band’s ability to seamlessly blend technicality, emotion, and sheer heaviness is what sets them apart, and their show at Banyan Live was a perfect example of why they remain one of the most respected acts in the progressive deathcore scene.
