Sol Fest Delivers Again in Junior Year!!!
Sol Fest Continues its Cosmic Journey Through Sound and Art in Northern Florida.
May 2nd – May 5th, 2024
Oh, Sol Fest, you magnificent beast of a festival! This year’s groovy gathering at Vortex Spring in Ponce De Leon was a soul-stirring, mind-bending celebration of music, art and community. Relocating from Alabama for the past two years, Sol Fest once again delivered an unforgettable experience, blending the best of electronic dance music (EDM), hip-hop and jams in an environment that felt like a utopian escape from the mundane.
During the day, a natural spring swimming area was an added bonus, offering a refreshing break in the festival’s action. Festivalgoers soaked up the sun and splashed in the water, lounging on the neighboring turf or nonchalantly standing in the shallow, algae-covered water. For the more adventurous spirits, beat-up slides, a diving platform, and a rope swing provided extra thrills. But the real party didn’t kick off until dusk, when the energy truly soared.
However, the next night, Daily Bread continued the magic with an ethereal mix of ATL’s underground hip-hop scene and soul-inducing electronic beats. The crowd was absolutely vibing, feeling every note as the sun dipped below the horizon. But, let’s not forget the queen herself, REZZ. Her midtempo bass and dark techno vibes turned the night into a hypnotic wonderland. The lineup was a celestial tapestry of talent who each brought their unique sounds to the mix. Additional artists included: Break Science, Claude VonStroke, CloZee, Dabin, Dr.Fresch, Elderbrook, Flowdan, G Jones, IMANU, Lettuce, LSDREAM, Luude, Machinedrum, Netsky, NGHTMRE, Of The Trees, Skeler and Smoakland.
Beyond the music, the festival was a feast for the senses. Art installations dazzled and workshops inspired such as glassblowing and community yoga. Overall, the vibe was a perfect blend of laid-back chill and electrifying energy. Although, a few campsites were flooded, the moods weren’t dampened as guests thankfully were spared from insect woes. Furthermore, the VIP experience was totally worth it – closer stages, a private bar and a shaded haven to escape the sun.
Sol Fest wasn’t just about the tunes; it was a holistic, immersive experience. The festival aimed to foster a creative and inclusive community, and boy, did it succeed! From the workshops that sparked new passions to the art that made our spirits soar, every moment was crafted to enhance the festival’s ethos of blending music, art and community.
So, here’s to Sol Fest – where the music, the art and the people come together to create a truly cosmic experience. Until next year’s hopeful return to Florida, keep the vibes alive!
