Tying the Knot, Italian Style: Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding – More Comedy than Your Average Pasta Sauce!

February 14th, 2024

Stepping into Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding in Fort Lauderdale felt like entering a whirlwind of joy and hilarity, perfectly timed for a Valentine’s celebration. The Abdo New River Room within the Broward Center for the Performing Arts transformed into a lively space where laughter echoed through hilarious interactions with members of the wedding party. As the audience became honorary guests, the zany sing-a-longs and playful dances became the heartbeat of the celebration.

Joe Leone and Emily Dinova, portraying the newlyweds, not only brought their characters to life but also invited the audience to join in the festivities. The immersive experience made you feel like you were truly part of their Italian-American family.

The deranged yet endearing family antics unfolded seamlessly, making every moment a memorable one. The interactive nature of the show encouraged spontaneous and uproarious interactions with the ‘relatives,’ turning the evening into a dynamic and unpredictable celebration. Furthermore, those encounters happened all over the place, from your dining table to the buffet line to the dance floor and even as you walked toward the bathroom at the end of the wedding.

Amidst the fun-filled chaos, stellar vocal performances elevated the entertainment to a whole new level. The talented cast included B-Boy rapper Elgin David (Rock of Ages, MTV’s Wild ’n Out) playing the Best Man, Barry Wheeler and Olivia Marchinke playing the Cousin of the Bride, Sister Albert Maria. Both performers showcased their vocal prowess, adding a welcomed dimension to all the theatrics. Their energy along with the rest of the cast was absolutely infectious as everywhere you looked smiles were brimming all over.

As the evening unfolded, you couldn’t help but be swept away by it all. Even the Italian buffet, while just average taste wise, became a communal feast, and the wedding cake was a sweet metaphor for the culmination of an evening filled with love, laughter and a bit of madness. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding wasn’t just a show; it’s a vivacious, immersive experience that leaves you with a surreal family celebration that will live on in memory long after you’ve left.

Now in its 36th year, see the show that has been hosted in more than 200 cities across North America. For more information on Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding visit https://www.browardcenter.org/events/detail/tony-n-tinas-wedding-2024
