Preacher Lawson a New King of Comedy?

Preacher Lawson Serves Up a Comedy Cocktail in West Palm Beach, A Delightful Mix for Every Palate.

February 9th, 2024

It’s hard to believe that seven years have passed since our first encounter with the charismatic Preacher Lawson on America’s Got Talent.  I still remember openly laughing at the self-proclaimed gangster, who then backtracked saying, “I’m just playing. I can’t be a gangster.  I’m ticklish.” At that moment I remember thinking, these 3-minute bits are not enough. I would love to see this guy live. Well after all these years Preacher Lawson did not disappoint.

The show kicked off on a heartwarming note, with none other than Mama Lawson warming up the audience. With relatable jokes about raising Preacher and his siblings, Mama Lawson provided a touching introduction that offered a glimpse into their close-knit family dynamics.

From the very start, Preacher had the audience in stitches as he humorously recounted tales about his siblings. No topic was off-limits as he delved into areas like dating, racism, and even playfully poking fun at a few well deserving members of the audience. What stood out was not only the sharpness of Lawson’s jokes but also his impeccable comedic timing, whether through the use of the mic stand, a flip of his hair, or his signature cross-eyed look.

In a moment of anticipation for his upcoming second special, slated for release on March 18th on Amazon Prime, Preacher treated the audience to a preview of new material for his third special. The response was nothing short of spectacular, with continuous laughter resonating throughout the venue.

The sold-out show concluded on a high note, with Preacher Lawson generously dedicating time to engage with and take pictures with his fans. Beyond being a natural stand-up comic, Preacher Lawson showcased his stand-up character, further accentuated by the unwavering support of his Mama. In the world of comedy, Preacher Lawson continues to stand out not just for his humor but also for being a standup guy.
