Tomorrow’s Golf League Lights Up South Florida With Playoff Stakes and Big Moments

Greens, Screens and High Stakes: Boston and Jupiter Go Shot-for-Shot in a TGL Showdown Built for the Modern Fan.

March 1st, 2026

If you were in South Florida on Sunday night, March 1st, and were looking for an exciting experience, you would not have been disappointed by a trip to Palm Beach Gardens to see the Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL). TGL gives fans and onlookers, or as I like to call them, soon‑to‑be fans the opportunity to watch and cheer for some of the best golfers in the world. The league combines competitive team golf with high‑tech simulation in a high‑energy, arena‑style atmosphere.

Set inside an arena type setting featuring a massive screen that players hit their shots toward, with the screen instantly displaying a visual simulation of the ball’s flight and landing. Each hole has its own name, and while some are inspired by famous holes from around the world, many this season feature imaginative and creative designs. One such hole requires players to hit the ball high onto a sloping ridge, where it rolls back down and drops onto the putting green, almost like a miniature golf hole. According to Tiger Woods, these unique hole designs are a direct result of listening to fan feedback.

In the middle of the playing area are a tee box, a sand box and a rough box, which players shoot from depending on the result of their initial shot. On the opposite side is a large, rotatable putting green surrounded by sand traps. The hole location on the green changes between rounds, which is impressive to watch in itself. When a shot lands on or near the green, a colored light illuminates to show the ball’s exact placement. With so much happening at once and all of it exciting, TGL seems perfectly designed for today’s shorter attention spans.

Each match features two teams of three golfers competing for a win, a rise in the standings, and ultimately a chance to make and win the playoffs.

On Sunday night, the hometown team Jupiter Links GC faced off against Boston Common Golf. Jupiter was fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive, while Boston was aiming to secure the top seed. Jupiter got off to a rough start, quite literally,  as Boston jumped out to an early lead, highlighted by Rory McIlroy hitting the longest shot in TGL history, which he credited to a steep slope on the hole. On the second hole, the teams reversed roles. Hideki Matsuyama hit a perfect drive down the center of the fairway for Jupiter, while Boston’s Max Homa found the rough, allowing Jupiter to capitalize and tie the match at one apiece.

One of the biggest highlights came on the third hole when Tiger Woods threw the Hammer for Jupiter. When the Hammer is thrown, the hole is worth two points instead of one if the opposing team accepts it. If the challenge is declined, the team that threw the Hammer automatically wins the hole and earns one point. Each team receives three Hammers per match, adding another strategic layer to the competition. Boston accepted the challenge but lost the hole, giving Jupiter a 3–1 lead.

Boston responded later by throwing its own Hammer, which Jupiter accepted. This time, Boston won the hole and took a 4–3 lead. Boston extended that lead to 5–3 after eight holes, just before the one‑versus‑one competition began. Boston maintained its advantage heading into the final hole, leading by one and setting up a dramatic finish.

The last hole featured Bradley Keegan representing his hometown Boston against Tom Kim on a par five. Tom hit a strong drive down the fairway, while Bradley left an opening by landing in the sand trap. Tom followed with a solid approach shot onto the green and energized the already electric crowd with animated gestures as he walked toward it. Bradley responded with an incredible putt, increasing the pressure on Tom. To heighten the drama, Boston even called a timeout to “freeze the kicker”—or in this case, the putter. Despite the pressure, Tom sank the putt and sent the match into overtime.

Overtime consisted of a head‑to‑head closest‑to‑the‑pin challenge, best of three. After the teams were tied through two rounds, Hideki Matsuyama won the final hole by just four inches, securing the match for Boston and locking in the number one seed. By forcing a tie in regulation, Jupiter kept its playoff hopes alive, continuing to make the TGL season an exciting one to follow. Moments like this highlight why the TGL is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new formats in professional golf.
