Two Worlds Collide as NFL Greats and PGA Champions Turn Broken Sound Into a Showcase of Skill and Swagger.

March 5th and 7th, 2026

Morning light stretched across The Old Course at Broken Sound like it knew something special was about to happen. Not another stop on the schedule. Something with a different pulse.

This one hums.

The James Hardie™ Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational sits in a space most events never reach. Football royalty trading cleats for spikes. Spiral throws replaced by controlled fades. It feels natural the second you see it in person.

What stands out right away is the depth of the field. No filler. No shortcuts. A roster that reads like a time capsule of greatness.

On the golf side, names stack quickly. Zach Johnson, Padraig Harrington, Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, Darren Clarke, David Duval, Tom Lehman, Retief Goosen, Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Bernhard Langer, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Mark Calcavecchia, Corey Pavin, David Toms, Kirk Triplett, Ken Duke, Stephen Ames, Billy Andrade, Paul Broadhurst, Thongchai Jaidee, Jerry Kelly, Doug Barron, Scott McCarron, Tim Petrovic, Dicky Pride, Rod Pampling, Alex Cejka, K.J. Choi, Shane Bertsch, Y.E. Yang, Robert Karlsson, Harrison Frazar, Scott Parel, Joe Durant, Brian Gay, Ken Tanigawa, Charlie Wi, Boo Weekley, Brandt Jobe, Olin Browne, Tom Byrum, Willie Wood, Jeff Sluman, Tom Gillis, Scott Dunlap, Esteban Toledo, Carlos Franco, Rocco Mediate, Vijay Singh, Marco Dawson, Michael Allen, Woody Austin, Bob Estes, Gene Sauers, Jesper Parnevik, Lee Janzen, Steve Flesch, Colin Montgomerie, and John Daly.

Different eras. Different swings. Same edge.

Then the football side steps in and shifts the energy. Emmitt Smith, Brian Urlacher, Calvin Johnson, Tim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Cris Carter, Marshall Faulk, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Champ Bailey, Jerome Bettis, Anthony Muñoz, Aeneas Williams, Darrell Green, Kevin Greene, Morten Andersen, John Randle, Andre Reed, James Lofton, Steve Atwater, Tony Dungy, Art Shell, Bill Polian, Bobby Beathard, and Jimmy Johnson.

Not just names you recognize. Names that still carry presence before a club even touches the ball.

That’s where the rhythm settles in.

Watching Zach Johnson move through a round feels like reading a blueprint. Every shot accounted for. Every decision measured. A few holes over, Emmitt Smith stands over a putt with the same focus he once carried into the end zone. Different sport, same instinct.

Johnson took control of the tournament and never let go, finishing at eleven under and separating himself with quiet authority. No drama needed. Just execution.

The real charm lives in the space between those moments.

A linebacker crouched behind a ball, reading a break.
A major champion pausing over a wedge, recalculating.
Fans turning their heads back and forth, unsure which pairing to follow.

It flows more than it competes.

That flow carries into the Legends Shootout, where the tone loosens and personalities come forward. Players mic’d up, conversations drifting into the gallery, a well-timed jab landing just as a putt drops.

Trash talk hits differently when it rides on the pace of play.

Nothing feels rehearsed. It lands as it happens.

Out on the course, movement feels easy. You follow a group for a few holes, drift elsewhere, settle in where the moment pulls you. No barriers, no stiffness. Just access.

Even the smaller touches feel tied to the setting. The Goslings 1806 Club pours the “Stinger,” a cocktail built with honey sourced right from the course. A detail that connects the drink back to the ground beneath it. Subtle, but memorable.

Then everything slows.

The Folds of Honor ceremony shifts the entire atmosphere. Conversations quiet. Movement pauses. A 102-year-old WWII veteran stands in front of a crowd that suddenly feels much smaller, more grounded.

Golf fades into the background for a few minutes.

Perspective steps in.

By the time the final putts fall and the fairways begin to empty, what lingers isn’t just the leaderboard.

It’s the feeling carried through the day.

A tournament comfortable in its own identity. Competitive with purpose. Relaxed without losing its edge. Star power that shows up and plays.

A fairway filled with stories.
A leaderboard that holds weight.
A crowd that stayed closer than expected.

Somewhere between a flushed iron and a misread putt from a Hall of Famer, it all settles into place.

Greatness, just out there walking the same grass, enjoying the moment.

Surfside’s Paddletopia 2026 Served Up Sunshine, Sweat, and Veggie-Packed Bites

Veggies Made Great helped fuel a family-friendly weekend of free workouts, paddleboarding, coffee, small bites, and feel-good fun at 96th Street Park.

May 18, 2026

Surfside brought the good vibes this weekend with Paddletopia 2026, a two-day wellness and outdoor lifestyle event that turned 96th Street Park into a sunny little hub for movement, community, and family-friendly fun.

Held on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event welcomed kids, adults, fitness lovers, coffee drinkers, paddleboarders, and anyone looking for a fresh-air weekend by the water. The best part? So many of the experiences were free, making it easy for families and locals to drop in, move around, and enjoy the day without overthinking it.

The workout classes were a highlight, bringing plenty of energy to the park with approachable, upbeat sessions that made wellness feel fun instead of intimidating. Between the fitness classes, paddleboarding, live music, wellness activations, and relaxed outdoor atmosphere, Paddletopia had that perfect South Florida mix of active and easygoing.

Of course, no great weekend event is complete without good bites. Veggies Made Great, an official event partner, kept guests fueled with complimentary samples of their veggie-packed favorites, including the Spinach Egg White Frittata and Lemon Blueberry Muffin. The samples were a smart fit for the day: light, wholesome, tasty, and easy to enjoy between activities. Paired with coffee and other small bites available throughout the event, it made for the kind of simple, satisfying spread that both kids and adults could get behind.

The event also had a thoughtful environmental angle through the “Paddle for Plastic” initiative with Plastic Fisherman, encouraging attendees to help clean Surfside canals in exchange for eco-friendly rewards. It added a meaningful layer to the weekend, blending wellness, community, and environmental care in a way that felt natural for a coastal town like Surfside.

Overall, Paddletopia 2026 felt like exactly what a South Florida weekend should be: outdoorsy, welcoming, active, delicious, and just a little bit sun-kissed. From free fitness classes to better-for-you snacks and community-focused fun, Surfside gave families a reason to get outside and enjoy the best of wellness by the water.
