A Holiday Airbnb Stay That Brought Us Closer

An Airbnb Escape into the Georgia Mountains Brought Four Generations Together for Waterfalls, Firepits, Shared Meals and Plenty of Holiday Memories.

November 24th – 29th, 2025

Our stay at 7 Timbers in Jasper, Georgia over Thanksgiving Break turned into one of those rare family trips that managed to be peaceful, emotional and unintentionally hilarious all at once. Coming from South Florida, suddenly finding ourselves in a quiet mountain valley surrounded by trees and crisp, slightly chilly Georgia air felt like stepping into another world. But the real magic came from having four generations under the same roof from my nephew, still mastering life on two feet, to my 96-year-old grandma, who continues to move with more determination (and occasionally more speed) than anyone expects.

The cabin itself had plenty of room for all eleven of us, with enough extra space for the relatives who had to drop out last minute. One of my two brothers even arrived a day late after being released from the hospital the day before, yet the cabin gave him a comfortable, low-stress place to rejoin the fun and settle back into the family chaos.

Watching my nephew take his wobbly little steps across the living room while Grandma carefully maneuvered her way through the same space was one of the most unexpectedly heartwarming parts of the entire trip. And of course, the moment we went shopping, Grandma found that familiar burst of speed that only retail therapy seems capable of unlocking. At ninety-six, she might move slowly around the house, but point her toward a store and she still beats half of us to the door.

The kitchen played a huge role in making Thanksgiving feel effortless. With two ovens, two refrigerators and two dishwashers, it handled our holiday spread with a level of ease no single-family kitchen could ever dream of. We cooked, baked, rotated dishes and somehow avoided the traditional holiday traffic jam of too many people in too small a space.

The property itself offered its own charm, especially the Creekside Trail, which became a pleasant adventure for my niece, nephew and brother.

An evening around the fire pit brought us together with storytelling, laughter and the kind of conversations that only seem to happen when everyone finally slows down at the same time.

One of the unexpected perks of the trip was how easy it was to branch out without driving too far away. We took short rides to Stone Mountain, the Bavarian-inspired town of Helen and enjoyed easy hikes to the waterfalls at Helton Creek, Amicalola and Fall Branch. We also made a stop at Mercier Orchards before heading to Downtown Dahlonega for their tree lighting, some holiday shopping, and a great meal at Shenanigans with its cozy firepit. Every outing added a new memory, and every return to the cabin felt like settling back into our temporary family headquarters.

Airbnb’s 24/7 customer support was reassuring, which thankfully was never needed and while prices vary for the more desirable dates, the experience we had made the trip absolutely worth it.

What stands out most is how Airbnb made it possible to gather our entire family under one roof, something we rarely get the chance to do. This getaway gave us moments we’ll cherish for a long time.

While we’re not planning a return to Jasper, Georgia specifically, we are absolutely considering another chance to reunite everyone again and based on this experience, Airbnb will be the first place we look when we do.
