We Thought We’d Seen It All… Then 250 Drones Lit Up Stone Mountain

What Happens When You Mix History, Faith, Technology and a Mountain the Size of a City Block? Stone Mountain Christmas 2025.

November, 26th, 2025

For over four decades, I’ve enjoyed visiting Stone Mountain in Georgia. To be on top of the world’s largest exposed and separated piece of granite never gets old and always takes your breath away.

As much as Stone Mountain is remarkable, it is also a piece of history. Etched within its massive side is The Confederate Memorial Carving featuring Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. This, like Stone Mountain itself, is the largest of its kind in the world.

During the winter months, Christmas completely takes over Stone Mountain, making it a destination not to be missed. Those gorgeous full-window gondolas that take you to the top of Stone Mountain get decked out with Christmas lights and become a magical sleigh that takes you to your own private North Pole location.

If you don’t include your extra journey to the North Pole, then you need not worry, for there is still so much to see and to do. The entire day was filled with a plethora of Christmas shows and activities to choose from, streaming from a hilarious retelling of Charles Dickinson’s A Christmas Carol, Children’s Story time & Reindeer Games, Cookie making with Mrs. Claus, and my personal favorite, Rudolph in 4D. You went to a theater to see Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but this 4D version had amazing 3D graphics with all the fun and surprising effects you would find in a 4D-style show.

The other two main highlights of the evenings at Stone Mountain Christmas had to be their fun, interactive parade with light-up floats and all the characters from the day. The other was their sing-along Christmas train, which circled Stone Mountain. It played all of your favorite holiday tunes while passing some light displays. In the middle of the train ride, we stopped for the telling of the real Christmas story of Jesus.

As it got dark, everyone made their way to the large field facing the famous Stone Mountain etching. There was a buzz in the air as hundreds awaited the (already famous) drone and light show, billed as ‘The World’s Largest Christmas Light Show.’

It was packed with a huge color-changing, animated tree, a web of intense lasers, cannons firing sky-high pyrotechnics, incredible surround sound, snow falling, and of course, their fleet of over 250 drones.

Framing Stone Mountain and its massive scale were these perfectly in sync drones going from one animated shape to the next in a dazzling array of brilliant colors. Mouths all around hung open in awe at what they were witnessing.

Stone Mountain Christmas has now become an essential visit to kick off the holidays for every family. It’s magical, it’s fun, it’s faith-inspiring, it’s phenomenal!

Check it out, ongoing during select dates from November 8th, 2025, through January 4th, 2026.
