Megadeth and Mudvayne Melt Faces In West Palm Beach

A Triple Threat of Metal Mastery Thrills South Florida with a Powerhouse Performance – Photos and Feature on the Megadeth, Mudvayne and All That Remains Concert at iThink Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL
The energy was electric at the iThink Financial Amphitheater this weekend as metal fans came to witness an ultimate night of heavy riffs and adrenaline-pumping energy. Megadeth brought their signature thrash metal prowess to West Palm Beach as fans from all walks of life gathered to witness one of the most iconic bands in the metal scene, and they were not disappointed. With a lineup that also featured All That Remains and Mudvayne as opening acts, the night was a relentless barrage of metal mayhem that left the crowd craving more.
The evening kicked off with a blistering set from All That Remains. Known for their melodic metalcore sound, the band delivered a performance that seamlessly blended aggression with melody. Frontman Phil Labonte’s powerful vocals, combined with the intricate guitar work of guitar wizards Jason Richardson and Mike Martin, started off the evening with “Now Let Them Tremble” and “Chyron“. Although nobody can replace late guitarist and founding member Oli Herbert, fans have responded with lots of enthusiasm to Jason, especially with his incredible shredding during fan-favorite tracks like “Six” and “This Calling“. All That Remains‘ ability to balance heavy riffs with catchy hooks ensured that the audience was fully engaged from start to finish, and they finished their set with one of their heaviest, oldest songs, “Two Weeks“.
Following All That Remains, Mudvayne took the stage, bringing their unique brand of visceral nu-metal to the eager crowd. Reuniting in 2021 after a long hiatus, Mudvayne has been reminding fans why they were such a force to be reckoned with in the early 2000s, and their performance last night was no exception. Kicking off their show with “Not Falling” and “Silenced“, Mudvayne sounded better than ever, and frontman Chad Gray’s intense stage presence coupled with the rest of the band’s tight musicianship made for an otherworldly experience. Tracks like “Fall Into Sleep” and “World So Cold” sent the crowd into a frenzy, with mosh pits erupting throughout the amphitheater. Concluding the set with their most famous songs “Happy?” and “Dig“, Mudvayne’s musical display was a masterclass in controlled chaos, perfectly setting the stage for the night’s headliner.
As the crowd’s anticipation reached its peak, the lights dimmed once again, finally signaling the arrival of Megadeth. Led by the legendary Dave Mustaine, the band wasted no time diving into their set, opening with “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!” from their latest album. The energy in the audience was electrifying as Mustaine’s razor-sharp riffs and snarling vocals commanded the stage, and the crowd went absolutely wild as favorites like “Dread and the Fugitive Mind” and “Angry Again” made an appearance.
The setlist was a carefully curated journey through Megadeth’s extensive discography, with a heavy emphasis on their classic albums. Tracks like “Sweating Bullets“, “Hangar 18” and “Skin O My Teeth” had the crowd singing along word for word, and the band also showcased material from their latest album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, proving that they still have plenty of fuel left in the tank.New guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari’s (of Wintersun fame) guitar work was nothing short of virtuosic, adding a fresh layer of technicality to the band’s sound. Meanwhile, Dirk Verbeuren’s drumming was a relentless driving force, and James LoMenzo’s bass lines provided the thunderous backbone to the performance.
Together Megadeth delivered a performance that was both precise and passionate, brutal and technical, and shined to a polish while still sounding raw, a testament to their status as thrash metal legends. As the night drew to a close, Megadeth left the stage to a thunderous ovation, with the crowd chanting for more until Dave and the rest of the gang came back out for a riveting final act. The encore, featuring “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due“, was the perfect capstone to an unforgettable evening. Megadeth’s show was a celebration of metal in its purest form, and stellar performances from All That Remains and Mudvayne were just icing on top of an already very delicious cake.
