Down In Doral with T.J. Miller

T.J. Miller Escapes Miami Traffic Jams by Creating Comedy Chaos at City Place Doral!
April 12th, 2024
T.J. Miller, the comedic whirlwind extraordinaire, not only left the Miami (or Doral) crowd in stitches at the Improv in City Place Doral, but also brought his quirky charm, which is often displayed in movies and tv shows. Known for his role as Erlich Bachman in “Silicon Valley,” Weasel in the first two Deadpool movies and voicing Tuffnut Thorston in the animated movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” Miller is a master of blending humor with his unique personality.
His stand-up routine is like a tornado of laughter, with jokes hitting you like a punchline-punch to the funny bone, leaving you in stitches and wondering how your abs got such a good workout. Watching him perform Friday night was like being on a rollercoaster of laughter, with unexpected twists, turns, and even a loop-de-loop of absurdity thrown in for good measure.
What makes his show even more special was how he catered to the Latin heavy Miami audience. Miller’s delivery was as unpredictable as the city’s weather, with tons of banter with the crowd and jokes that perfectly encapsulated everything Miami stands for, of course in his own comedic way.
A great surprise for the Hispanic members in the audience was when he joked around in Spanish, adding an extra layer of hilarity to an already memorable show. Just such a fun night. T.J. Miller always seems to deliver with his signature style and wit.
However, his comedic prowess wasn’t alone as opener Ryan Reiss absolutely killed it. With so much banter with the crowd himself and quick wit, the New Yorker seemed like he could’ve been a headliner himself. Jokes were firing off often and landing in every direction. Having never heard of the comedian I can definitely say I wouldn’t want to miss his show if he’s ever back in town. The comedian has been a solid warm act for Late Night with Seth Myers and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
It’s just a shame that he didn’t lead into T.J. Miller, but rather a female comic who I believe goes by “T.” She really struggled getting laughs. As if oblivious to what she was saying, she repeated the same narrative joke that she had done before. It was awkward to say the least, but not every night is going to land seamlessly.
