The Cultural Phenomenon Hamilton Strikes Miami

From Founding Fathers to Foot-Stomping Anthems: Hamilton Takes Miami on a Journey Through America’s Past and Present.

March 14th, 2024

Thursday, the hit Broadway musical Hamilton made its debut at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. Playing to a sold-out crowd of over 3,000 people on opening night, the production was a massive success.

Led by a tour de force performance from Blaine Alden Krauss in the title role, Hamilton brought the story of America’s founding father to vivid life. Krauss inhabited Alexander Hamilton with intelligence, charisma and raw emotion. He commanded the stage from his first entrance and had the audience hanging on his every word. Both his rapping skills and his singing were superbly executed.

The entire cast was phenomenal. From the ensemble to the principal players, each performer brought their a-game and seemed to be having the time of their lives on that stage. Special kudos to Deon’te Goodman as Aaron Burr for his nuanced and dynamic portrayal of one of America’s most complex figures. The musical numbers like “My Shot,” “Yorktown” and “Satisfied” left the audience on their feet.

Stunning set designs and creative direction transported the audience to the halls of power in New York and Philadelphia during the revolutionary era. Hip-hop, pop, R&B and Broadway were blended together to tell America’s story in a fresh, vibrant way.

For those who missed it during its initial Broadway run, the Miami engagement of Hamilton is a must-see event that will run through March 24th. It affirmed why this musical has taken the world by storm and will be studied and enjoyed for generations to come. The Arsht Center should be proud to host this cultural touchstone.
