ONE Musicfest Lights Up Atlanta, Honoring the Legacy and Innovation of 50 Years of Hip-Hop Culture.

October 28th – 29th, 2023

In the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, a historic celebration took place at Piedmont Park. The One Musicfest brought together over 100,000 people to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop in an unforgettable way. With an impressive lineup of headliners, a special 50 Years of Hip- Hop celebration, local talents, and exciting activations, the festival was a true homage to the genre that has shaped generations.

The One Musicfest left no stone unturned when it came to curating a lineup that would celebrate Hip Hop’s rich history and its vibrant present. Headlining the festival were some of the most iconic and contemporary names in the industry. Kendrick Lamar, who is often heralded as one of the greatest rappers of his generation, brought his lyrical prowess to the stage. The legendary Janet Jackson wowed the crowd with her unparalleled stage presence, while artists like Brent Faiyaz and Megan Thee Stallion showcased the genre’s diverse and ever-evolving nature.

But, the star-studded lineup didn’t stop there. The festival featured an array of talent including Bryson Tiller, Tems, Coi Leray, Key Glock, Smino, Chief Keef, Jadakiss, Coco Jones, Tink, Boosie, Durand Bernarr and Danielle Ponder. The diversity of artists on display at One Music Fest represented the many facets of Hip Hop, from R&B-infused melodies to raw and authentic lyricism.

In honor of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, One Musicfest pulled out all the stops with a special celebration featuring a star-studded cast of Hip Hop pioneers and legends. KRS-One, Killer Mike, Eightball & MJG, DJ Drama, Waka Flocka, Too Short, Big Daddy Kane, Goodie Mob, Trina, Nice & Smooth, Kid Capri and others graced the stage. These artists not only paid homage to the roots of Hip Hop, but also served as a reminder of the genre’s lasting impact on music and culture.

One Musicfest went above and beyond with its festival experience, offering much more than just music. The festival featured several unique activations, including a Skate Park for enthusiasts to showcase their skills and Bevel’s Onsite Barbershop, providing festivalgoers with fresh haircuts and grooming services.

The 85 South Show, known for its hilarious live podcast recordings, made a special appearance, featuring the dynamic Keith Lee and Atlanta’s very own TI and Tiny. These live recordings added a comedic and engaging element to the festival’s entertainment lineup.

Everythangdope, Atlanta’s favorite vintage clothing shop for high-end, hand-picked drip, was also among the festival’s vendors, offering attendees a chance to shop for unique and stylish apparel.

Looking toward the future, Jason Carter, the visionary behind One Musicfest, has set his sights on expansion. Carter mentioned, “We are looking to expand to one other city domestically and to make an international play as well.” Within the next two years, Carter and his team expect to take the festival to two new locations, spreading the joy of it to an even wider audience.

The One Music Fest’s celebration of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary was a testament to the genre’s enduring influence on music and culture. With an impressive lineup, a special 50 Years of Hip- Hop celebration, engaging activations, and the promise of future expansion, One Musicfest continues to be a vital force in the world of music festivals. As it looks to share its magic with new cities and international audiences, the future of One Musicfest is as bright as its storied past.
