Brightside Music Festival Offers a Day of Raw Energy and Unforgettable Performances!

The Brightside Music Festival dawned with a raw energy that reverberated through the souls of all who attended. From the moment Donefor took the stage in the early afternoon, their powerful performance set the tone for what was to come, igniting a spark that would burn brightly throughout the day. Next, iFUAKATA! burst forth with a ferocity that was as infectious as it was exhilarating, their dynamic set leaving the crowd hungry for more. And then, Zebrahead seized the early spotlight with a relentless energy that swept through the audience like wildfire or in their case a watermelon float. During “All My Friends Are Nobodies” one of the band members actually coasted over the crowd on the float. Their energetic set also included a fun opening cover of “America, F@#k Yeah” by Trey Parker & Matt Stone and a closing cover of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Next, Unwritten Law made their mark with a short but catchy set, delivering a cascade of hits that seemed to really resonate with the crowd. From the raw intensity of “Harmonic” and “Teenage Suicide” to the anthemic fervor of “Seein Red,” “Rescue Me” and “Up All Night,” each song brought a wave of nostalgia to the Orlando crowd.

Save Ferris, led by the fiery singer Monique Powell, took the stage by storm with their infectious blend of ska and punk, and sent shockwaves of energy rippling through the crowd. From the upbeat grooves of “The World is New” and “Goodbye” to the unwavering charm of their ever-popular cover of Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ “Come on Eileen,” the band’s appeal and uncanny ability to get the crowd on their feet and dancing continues to endure. Paying respects to legendary hardcore punk rockers, the Dead Kennedys, they also performed their track “Too Drunk to F@#k” as well.

Fronted by the irrepressible Trever Keith, Face To Face unleashed a relentless barrage of punk fury that left nostalgic fans reeling with exhilaration. With a swagger that could shake the very foundations of the venue, they tore through their setlist like a hurricane, delivering punk anthems with the ferocity of a runaway train. From the explosive energy of 90’s mainstays “A-OK” and “Ordinary” to the raw, unbridled passion of “I Want” and their latest “No Way Out but Through,” each song hit like a punch to the gut, igniting mosh pits and setting the crowd ablaze with excitement. As an added bonus, the band sampled an electrifying cover of George Satellites’ “Keep Your Hands to Yourself ” that truly caught the crowd off guard. The stage was truly on fire, infusing the air with a rebellious spirit that could not be contained. And when they launched into “Walk the Walk,” Trevor Keith rallied the crowd with a raucous call to arms, leading a chorus of voices in a defiant anthem of unity and defiance. Yet, amidst the chaos and cacophony, it was “Disconnected” that reigned supreme, a timeless classic that resonated with every soul in the room, its infectious melody and defiant spirit served as a rallying cry for a generation. With each chord and every scream, Face To Face reaffirmed their status as punk rock royalty, leaving fans breathless and hungry for more.

Next, Story of the Year delivered a performance charged with raw emotion, leaving the audience breathless amidst a whirlwind of intensity and passion. Their relentless energy and infectious enthusiasm captivated the crowd from the outset, ensnaring them in a maelstrom of emotion that refused to dissipate until the final note echoed into the night. From the thunderous intensity of “And the Hero Will Drown” to the soul-stirring resonance of “Anthem of Our Dying Day,” each song served as a testament to the band’s unparalleled talent and unwavering dedication to their craft.

Goldfinger’s performance, though slightly delayed, delivered their trademark fusion of ska and punk with an undeniable vigor that swept through the audience. From the skankin’ grooves of “Here in Your Bedroom” to their inventive covers of Blur’s “Song #2” and brief nods to The Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There for You” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” every song was a blast. The set reached its climax with a spirited rendition of Nena’s “99 Red Balloons,” following frontman John Feldman’s interactive moment where he allowed the crowd to choose between that and the iconic “Superman.” Goldfinger’s energy and repertoire ensured a night of pure, unadulterated fun.

Kicking off with explosive energy, 311 stormed onto the stage, blending rock, reggae, and hip-hop into a potent musical concoction. They took the audience on a wild ride, from the infectious rhythms of “Beautiful Disaster” to the soulful vibes of “Amber.” Each track seamlessly flowed into the next, keeping the crowd captivated and energized throughout the set. Hits like “All Mixed Up” and “Come Original” injected an extra dose of nostalgic adrenaline, while newer tracks like “You’re Gonna Get It” hinted at the band’s everlasting sound. The atmosphere peaked during “Applied Science,” featuring a jaw-dropping full band drum solo that showcased 311’s incredible musicianship. Paying homage to their influences, they flawlessly transitioned into a rocking rendition of “Love Song” by The Cure, infusing it with their trademark groove. Though Jakob Nowell may not have been able to fully capture his late father Bradley’s charisma and vocal prowess, his newfound frontman role seems to be something he can really grow into.
