Circle Jerks and Descendents Mosh Into Florida
Legendary Hardcore Pioneers Circle Jerks and Descendents Prove That Punk Rock Ain’t Dead – Photos and Review of the Circle Jerks, Descendants and Adolescents Concert at the Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale, FL
This weekend, the South Florida hardcore scene had an incredible early Easter present in the form of a frenetic, action packed concert featuring three iconic bands – Circle Jerks, Descendents, and The Adolescents. This punk rock three-for-all took place in the outdoor part of Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale, fitting 1600 frenzied fans into the patio for an amazing sold out show. The weather was perfect, giving the sweaty mosh-pits that irrupted plenty of air, and the night was set to be a memorable event etched in the memories of punk enthusiasts both young and old for years to come.

Kicking off the evening with a surge of energy, The Adolescents wasted no time in setting the tone for what would be a night of raw, unfiltered punk rock. Legends in their own right, the band’s fast-paced riffs and aggressive vocals served as the perfect catalyst to ignite the crowd, drawing them in with their signature sound and rebellious spirit. Vocalist Tony Reflex brought an infectious energy to the crowd, and not a single soul in the venue was sitting still as the band blasted through hits like “No Way” and “LA Girl“. The Adolescents finished up their set with perhaps their most well-known song, “Kids of the Black Hole“, to a roar of approval from the hungry crowd.

Anticipation reached its peak as the acclaimed heroes of hardcore, the Circle Jerks, appeared onto the stage, with vocalist Keith Morris taking time before they began to introduce the band and talk to the crowd. As the rest of the band finished last minute tuning, Circle Jerks kicked into “Deny Everything“, unleashing a sonic assault that had the audience thrashing and moshing with unbridled intensity. One of my favorite things about the band is the level of crowd interaction Kieth has with his fans, with the singer telling short stories about the songs and speaking to the fans in the front row. Blasting through classics like “Wild in the Streets” and “Live Fast, Die Young“, the Circle Jerks delivered a performance that was as ferocious and unapologetic as ever, reminding everyone why they are hailed as pioneers of the hardcore punk movement. Kieth and the band finished up their time on stage with “What’s Your Problem” and “Question Authority” as the fans screamed for more and more.

Finally, the Descendents took the stage amidst a roar of applause and cheers, wasting no time in launching into “Feel This” and kicking off a setlist filled with their trademark blend of catchy melodies and witty lyrics. The band had an incredible aura about them, and they sounded as tight and practiced as ever despite being active since the late 70’s, and it’s good to see that age hasn’t slowed the Descendents down one bit. Tracks like “Suburban Home” and “I’m the One” had the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs, while the band’s expert musicianship and boundless energy kept the momentum building throughout their electrifying performance.

What truly stood out about the evening was not just the individual prowess of each band, but the collective sense of camaraderie and shared passion that permeated the venue. From the frenetic energy of the mosh pit to the jubilant sing-alongs, it was evident that this was more than just a concert – it was a celebration of punk rock culture and community. It also surprised me to see how many younger kids were there to watch a bunch of bands from the 70’s and 80’s, and it was incredible to see that the punk rock scene was alive and well in South Florida. The Adolescents, Circle Jerks, and Descendents show was nothing short of exhilarating, with blistering performances from all three bands and an atmosphere charged with the spirit of rebellion.
