Snow Way South: Spring Break Rolls from Pigeon Forge Through Chattanooga and Nashville.

March 16th, 2026

Our Spring Break road trip rolled out of Pigeon Forge with Tennessee still holding a few surprises in reserve.

The biggest came almost immediately.

As Floridians, we are used to winter being a loosely defined concept involving one cold front, three hoodies and several people announcing that 58 degrees is “freezing.” Chattanooga introduced us to the real thing.

Snow began falling as we made our way through the area, covering roads, trees, rooftops and nearly everything else in sight. The timing could not have been better. Rather than simply driving through another city, we got to watch the landscape transform around us.

For someone accustomed to palm trees and year-round humidity, seeing the seasons change in real time became one of the most memorable moments of the trip.

We stopped at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, the city’s historic former train terminal, where the snowfall gave the old station and vintage locomotive an extra layer of atmosphere. The terminal was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and remains open for visitors to explore.

The combination of railroad history, preserved architecture and steady snow made the stop feel like we had wandered into a holiday movie several months late.

The terminal offered a quick history lesson while the outdoor train displays supplied plenty of photo opportunities. Naturally, that included posing beside the locomotive as snow collected on my Dolphins hoodie. Miami may not see much snow, but team loyalty apparently travels well in all climates.

The falling flakes also made their way onto someone’s car, where someone drew a large smiling face across the snow-covered hood. It was difficult to tell whether the vehicle was happy to see winter or simply laughing at the Floridians trying to figure out what to do with it.

After exploring the station, we warmed up nearby at Chattanooga Pizza Co.

The pizza arrived looking less like a meal and more like a team-building exercise. It was large, loaded with toppings and greeted with the type of enthusiasm normally reserved for surprise concert tickets. After spending time outside in the cold, hot pizza proved to be the correct medical treatment.

From Chattanooga, the journey continued toward Nashville.

Before fully diving into the city’s music scene, we had an important family tradition to maintain giving a thumbs down in front of opposing sports stadiums.

First came Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans. As Miami Dolphins fans, we could not simply pass by without registering a formal complaint through body language. The stadium received the expected thumbs down.

The tradition continued at Bridgestone Arena, home of the Nashville Predators. The Florida Panthers support remained strong, and the arena earned matching disapproval from the group.

Nothing personal, Nashville. Sports loyalty does not take vacations.

With our rivalry responsibilities complete, we moved on to the city’s famous Honky Tonk Highway along Lower Broadway.

Broadway was exactly what Nashville promises: bright neon signs, crowded sidewalks, cowboy boots, rooftop bars and live music spilling from nearly every building. The entire strip felt like one enormous concert where each doorway led to a different band. Nashville’s official tourism site describes Lower Broadway as a row of honky-tonks with live music flowing through the streets throughout the day and late into the night.

Even walking the street became part of the experience. Music drifted between venues while the glowing signs competed for attention overhead. Some places advertised boots, others drinks and nearly all of them appeared to have someone performing.

We eventually settled in for dinner and live music at Posty’s, Post Malone’s Nashville bar.

The venue delivered the full Nashville combination of food, atmosphere and performance. A live band played nearby as we ate, turning dinner into another concert stop without requiring us to leave the table. The Lower Broadway venue includes multiple bars and stages while blending live music, dining and Post Malone’s personality.

That may be Nashville’s greatest trick. You can walk in looking for a meal and accidentally end up with front-row entertainment.

The night offered a fitting contrast to the morning. We had started the day surrounded by falling snow and historic trains in Chattanooga, then finished beneath neon lights and amplified guitars in downtown Nashville.

After exploring the strip, we headed to Murfreesboro, where we stayed overnight with an old friend and his family.

That gave the day a quieter ending after hours of driving, sightseeing, stadium disrespect and live music. It also offered a chance to catch up before the next stage of the Spring Break road trip.

From Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga, Nashville and Murfreesboro, the route packed several distinctly Tennessee experiences into one memorable stretch.

There was snow in the mountains, history at the train station, pizza large enough to require emotional preparation, rival stadiums begging for thumbs down and enough live music to remind us exactly where we were.

For a group traveling from Florida, the change of scenery alone made the day special.

The snow simply put the trip on the right track.

This intimate chef-driven tasting experience in Broward blends elevated cuisine, live culinary artistry, and a mission that transforms lives.

June 20th, 2026

Not every memorable night out in South Florida happens at the trendiest Miami hotspot or the newest Fort Lauderdale restaurant. Sometimes, the most unforgettable dining experiences are hidden in places you’d least expect.

Arc Broward’s Arc Culinary is one of those rare gems.

More than just a dinner reservation, Arc Culinary delivers an immersive chef’s table experience where guests enjoy thoughtfully curated multi-course meals while watching talented chefs prepare and present each dish right in front of them. The result feels part fine dining, part live performance, and entirely unforgettable.

With limited seating and rotating themed menus, every event feels exclusive like being invited to an intimate dinner party hosted by some of South Florida’s most passionate culinary talent.

The real magic begins once the first course arrives.

At Arc Culinary, dinner becomes an experience. Instead of dishes quietly appearing from behind kitchen doors, guests get a front-row seat to the craftsmanship behind every plate. Watching the chefs work adds a level of connection and appreciation that transforms the meal into something far more interactive and personal.

For its recent Fresh SoFlo Summer Flavors dinner, Arc Culinary showcased a four-course tasting menu celebrating seasonal Florida ingredients with elevated technique and thoughtful presentation.

The evening began with a refreshing Florida blue crab starter served with avocado, ruby red grapefruit, hearts of palm, and a bright key lime vinaigrette. Light, citrusy, and beautifully balanced, it captured South Florida summer on a plate.

Course two brought a stunning pan-seared Florida snapper, perfectly crisp on the outside and paired with sweet corn purée and blistered cherry tomatoes. The standout element, however, was the sauce. A swap to miso chili oil added layers of umami, subtle spice, and richness that completely elevated the dish. It was one of those bites that makes the entire table pause.

The third course featured a beautifully cooked grilled filet mignon, served with roasted summer peppers, shaved fennel, arugula, and key lime chimichurri. Rich yet balanced, it delivered the kind of bold, satisfying flavor you hope for in a main course.

Dessert ended the evening on a classic South Florida note: a stunning key lime tart that was equal parts creamy, tart, and sweet.

While the food alone makes Arc Culinary worth visiting, what makes the experience truly special lies beyond the plate.

Founded in 1956, Arc Broward has spent nearly seven decades serving individuals with developmental disabilities and life challenges throughout Broward County. The nonprofit supports individuals from ages 1 to 91, offering programs that include education, employment services, behavioral health support, residential programs, and family resources.

Arc Culinary operates as one of Arc Broward’s most innovative social enterprises, using food as both a source of funding and a pathway to opportunity.

Proceeds from dinners, private events, catering, and culinary programming directly support Arc Broward’s life-changing services while also helping create hands-on training and workforce opportunities in hospitality and culinary arts for individuals with special needs.

In other words, this isn’t just dinner.

It’s a chance to support inclusion, independence, and meaningful opportunity—all while enjoying an exceptional meal.

That’s what makes Arc Culinary so special: you come for the chef-driven menu, the intimate atmosphere, and the creative flavors, but you leave with something deeper.

In a region filled with restaurants competing for attention, Arc Culinary offers something increasingly rare a dining experience that feels personal, purposeful, and genuinely impactful.

Because at Arc Culinary, every course tells a story and every bite gives back.
