Davey Havok Debuts His New Look as the Seminal Punk Rock Outfit Breaks Out Some Golden Oldies and Brand New Hits – Photos of the AFI Concert at the FTL War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, FL

This past weekend, the War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale provided to be a majestic backdrop for the potent, enduring force of AFI. The band took the stage to a roar of devotion, immediately launching into their set with the aggressive punk energy of “Strength Through Wounding” as the crowd chanted the opening words. From that moment, the performance was a masterclass in intensity and musical precision, a powerful journey through their decades-long discography. Delving into some deep cuts from their punk rock days like “The Boy Who Destroyed the World“, emo classics like “Girl’s Not Grey“, and debuting some singles from their brand new album “Silver Bleeds The Black Sun“.

Frontman Davey Havok was a whirlwind of charismatic energy, commanding the stage with a feral grace as his signature vocals swung from melodic pleas to piercing screams. Behind him, the band was impeccably tight, with Jade Puget’s razor-sharp guitar work slicing over the thunderous rhythm section of Hunter Burgan and Adam Carson. The setlist artfully balanced raw, frenetic classics like “The Days of the Pheonix” and “Wester” with the melancholic grandeur of anthems such as “Silver and Cold“, creating waves of catharsis that swept through the captivated audience. Finishing up with their most well known song “Miss Murder“, the fans left the historic venue buzzing with the satisfying echo of some rare classics and a dark, communal ritual fulfilled.
