Pierce the Veil Conquer South Florida in a Triumphant Finale to the “I Can’t Hear You” World Tour

It was the night before Halloween, but the humid Florida air crackled with a different sense of anticipation this past Thursday as the iThink Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach braced for both its last show of the season and the final, explosive chapter of Pierce the Veil’s “The Jaws of Life” era, aptly dubbed the “I Can’t Hear You World Tour“. For weeks, this date had been circled on the calendars of South Florida heavy music fans, a holy night for the post-hardcore faithful who had followed the San Diego quartet through years of silence and a victorious return from their hiatus.

Setting the stage for the night’s emotional crescendo was the youthful energy of Like Roses. Hailing from the Bay Area emo scene, the quartet delivered a potent shot of melodic angst that served as the perfect opening salvo. Their sound was a blend of driving rhythms and heartfelt, soaring vocals and cut through the early evening haze, waking up the steadily growing crowd. Tracks like their breakout single “Easy” resonated with a raw, confessional quality, their pop-punk sensibilities providing an accessible gateway into the heavier sounds to come.

The energy shifted dramatically with the arrival of Australian firebrand Ecca Vandal, and from the moment she bounded onto the stage, she was a whirlwind of undeniable charisma. Her sound was a thrilling, genre-defying cocktail—a splash of punk rock ferocity, a dash of hip-hop swagger, and a heavy dose of razor-sharp electronic production. Tracks like “Cruising to Self-Soothe” were delivered with a relentless, percussive intensity that was impossible to ignore. Vandal commanded the stage, her powerful vocals shifting from a soulful croon to a guttural roar in an instant, while her band provided a taut, explosive backbone. Her performance was a jolt of adrenaline that defied easy categorization and left the audience both mesmerized and thoroughly energized.

As the stage was reset, a dense, industrial fog began to roll out, and the stark, pulsating logo of HEALTH materialized on the screens as the theme song to Neon Genesis Evangelion played over the speakers. The Los Angeles trio proceeded to unleash a sonic assault that was as beautiful as it was brutal, and their set was a wall of immersive, textured noise—driving, mechanical drums, searing synths, and distorted guitar lines that felt more like architectural soundscapes than traditional riffs. Songs like “HATEFUL” and “CRACK METAL” from their latest album “RAT WARS” hammered into the crowd with a physical force. The light show shifted to match their intensity, with strobes cutting through the haze in time with the punishing beats. HEALTH’s performance was less a traditional “rock show” and more an immersive audio-visual experience, a cathartic, almost primal cleansing of the palate that prepared everyone for the emotional headliner to come.

Finally, the moment everyone awaited arrived. The house lights dropped, and a wave of screams so loud they nearly drowned out the introductory mariachi music washed over the amphitheater and when Pierce the Veil took the stage, the eruption was deafening. They launched directly into “Death of an Executioner“, and from that first note, it was clear this was a band and a fanbase completely in sync, a symbiotic relationship forged over nearly two decades. The setlist was a meticulously crafted journey through their discography that touched on every album, a gift to the loyal fans who had waited years for this night. Early classics like “Yeah Boy and Doll Face” sent pits swirling with nostalgic fury, while the triumphant “Pass the Nirvana” proved their hit-making prowess remains sharper than ever.

Vocalist Vic Fuentes was the night’s charismatic conductor, his voice navigating intricate melodies and raw screams with stunning precision, all while beaming with genuine, unadulterated joy. He frequently paused to soak in the sight of the roaring crowd, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the years of support. The emotional peak of the night arrived during the encore, when the band delivered a triple hitter of “Disasterology“, “Hold On Till May” and of course, their biggest hit “King for a Day“. The amphitheater became a sea of swaying bodies and illuminated phones, and the energy of the crowd felt like it could have been seen from space, a perfect, chaotic release of a decade’s worth of pent-up excitement.
