How OluKai Blends Hawaiian Tradition with West Palm Beach Style
Finding Aloha Where You Least Expect It: OluKai Proves the Shoe Really Does Fit in West Palm Beach, One Step and One Story at a Time.
October 23rd, 2025
Stepping into the new OluKai store in West Palm Beach feels less like browsing footwear and more like being invited into a living expression of Hawaiian culture. The brand is rooted in a tradition that speaks to something deeper than fashion. It draws from the spirit of Aloha, a word that carries layers of meaning: love without expectation, a generosity of heart, and a way of moving through the world with intention. OluKai has built its identity around that idea, and the new store reveals how seriously they take it.
The company describes Aloha as the foundation of everything they do. It is not a decorative slogan and it is not reserved for postcard landscapes. Their internal mantra, “Anywhere Aloha,” captures the belief that this way of life can exist anywhere, including communities far removed from Hawaii’s islands. It becomes clear when you walk through the door. The greeting is warm, natural and unforced. The staff focuses on connecting with visitors rather than simply selling to them. Sometimes that connection comes through a recommendation for well-made footwear. Other times it comes through a simple interaction that brightens someone’s day. Either way, the goal remains the same: elevate the experience and leave people better than they arrived.

The West Palm Beach store is a fascinating blend of authenticity and local adaptation. While Hawaii and South Florida are worlds apart in geography and culture, OluKai found common ground in an unexpected symbol: the coconut. The coconut tree is not native to either region, yet it arrived in both places through seafaring journeys. Despite its shallow roots, it flourished in unfamiliar soil and became a representation of versatility and resilience. Every part of the plant serves a purpose. That theme became the backbone for the store’s design. Materials, shapes and artwork sourced from artisans in Hawaii and West Palm Beach echo that story. The space feels tropical without leaning into caricature. It mirrors the idea of a shared ecosystem between two coasts shaped by ocean travel, trade and cultural exchange.
If asked to define OluKai’s essence in three words, the company chooses Aloha, Ohana and Quality. Aloha remains the spiritual core. Ohana represents family, both within the company and throughout the communities they serve. Their B-Corp certification and their Ama OluKai Foundation, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, reflect a belief in taking care of people and investing in meaningful work. Quality ties the entire philosophy together. It applies to the craftsmanship of products, the intention behind decisions, and the value of time spent well. The brand stands behind everything it makes with a one-year product guarantee, a commitment far more rooted in confidence than trend.

That attention to detail becomes clear when you look beyond their signature sandals. The store carries boots, sneakers and slippers that follow the exact same development process. Every item moves through a structured path from ideation to design to development and production. The company enforces strict standards for material selection, fit and construction. A core part of OluKai’s design DNA is the “Wet Sand Principle,” which shapes the footbed contour across all categories. It is meant to replicate the way your foot naturally settles into wet sand, creating comfort that adapts to your own footprint. They also prioritize soft skin-contact materials and extensive wear-testing to ensure each pair performs to their expectations.
Looking toward the future, the company plans to continue using Hawaii as its compass. The landscapes, people and culture of the islands offer endless inspiration. OluKai’s vision is built on the marriage of authentic storytelling and meticulous execution. When the two align, a brand becomes more than a product line. It becomes an experience.
The West Palm Beach store is a perfect example. It brings Hawaiian roots to a new coast without losing sincerity and without turning culture into décor. It proves that Aloha genuinely can exist anywhere. All it needs is intention, openness and a brand willing to honor where it came from while embracing every community it enters.

Surfside’s Paddletopia 2026 Served Up Sunshine, Sweat, and Veggie-Packed Bites
Veggies Made Great helped fuel a family-friendly weekend of free workouts, paddleboarding, coffee, small bites, and feel-good fun at 96th Street Park.
May 18, 2026
Surfside brought the good vibes this weekend with Paddletopia 2026, a two-day wellness and outdoor lifestyle event that turned 96th Street Park into a sunny little hub for movement, community, and family-friendly fun.
Held on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event welcomed kids, adults, fitness lovers, coffee drinkers, paddleboarders, and anyone looking for a fresh-air weekend by the water. The best part? So many of the experiences were free, making it easy for families and locals to drop in, move around, and enjoy the day without overthinking it.
The workout classes were a highlight, bringing plenty of energy to the park with approachable, upbeat sessions that made wellness feel fun instead of intimidating. Between the fitness classes, paddleboarding, live music, wellness activations, and relaxed outdoor atmosphere, Paddletopia had that perfect South Florida mix of active and easygoing.

Of course, no great weekend event is complete without good bites. Veggies Made Great, an official event partner, kept guests fueled with complimentary samples of their veggie-packed favorites, including the Spinach Egg White Frittata and Lemon Blueberry Muffin. The samples were a smart fit for the day: light, wholesome, tasty, and easy to enjoy between activities. Paired with coffee and other small bites available throughout the event, it made for the kind of simple, satisfying spread that both kids and adults could get behind.
The event also had a thoughtful environmental angle through the “Paddle for Plastic” initiative with Plastic Fisherman, encouraging attendees to help clean Surfside canals in exchange for eco-friendly rewards. It added a meaningful layer to the weekend, blending wellness, community, and environmental care in a way that felt natural for a coastal town like Surfside.
Overall, Paddletopia 2026 felt like exactly what a South Florida weekend should be: outdoorsy, welcoming, active, delicious, and just a little bit sun-kissed. From free fitness classes to better-for-you snacks and community-focused fun, Surfside gave families a reason to get outside and enjoy the best of wellness by the water.
