If you’re visiting Amsterdam and want a personalized, immersive, and insightful introduction to the city, look no further than Tom’s Travel Tours. Led by Tom, a true Amsterdam local, this tour offers an authentic, in-depth experience that goes beyond the usual tourist spots, making it an ideal way to start your exploration of the city.
Our adventure began with a convenient hotel pickup, where we had already rented bikes—making it easy to navigate the city just like the locals do. From the very beginning, Tom’s deep knowledge and passion for Amsterdam set the tone for an engaging and informative experience. Born and raised in the city, he provided insider insights, historical context, and hidden gems that you wouldn’t find in a typical guidebook.
As we pedaled through the city, Tom made sure to show us a wide variety of views, from picturesque canals and historic neighborhoods to modern landmarks and lesser-known backstreets. At each stop, he shared detailed stories and historical facts about Amsterdam’s past and present, making the city come alive with its rich history and culture.

One of the highlights was visiting many of Amsterdam’s important buildings, where Tom explained the significance and history behind their architecture and role in the city’s development. His enthusiasm and knowledge made it easy to absorb information, and he was always happy to answer questions in great detail.

A major highlight of the tour was our visit to the Saturday market, where Tom introduced us to some of the best local foods. We sampled delicious Dutch treats, including chocolates, fresh fish, and local delicacies, while also exploring the vibrant flower stalls and cultural items that define Amsterdam’s identity. This stop wasn’t just about food—it was an opportunity to experience Amsterdam’s local culture firsthand, guided by someone who truly understands what makes the city special.

If you’re new to Amsterdam, Tom’s Travel Tours is an exceptional way to get oriented, learn about the city’s layout, and gain local insights that will help shape the rest of your trip. With Tom’s friendly personality, deep knowledge, and passion for sharing his hometown, this tour is highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun, informative, and authentic experience. Whether you’re interested in history, food, architecture, or simply seeing the city through a local’s eyes, this tour is a must-do for first-time visitors.
