Sing, Dance and Celebrate with Encanto in Concert
How the Encanto Sing-Along Turned a Simple Family Outing into an Unforgettable Celebration of Disney Magic and Music.
November 26th, 2024
As a huge Disney fan, you can only imagine how excited I’ve been to see the evolution of strong female characters coming to the screen. Encanto, is a film that’s been held close to my heart since its premiered in 2021. While I’ve seen this movie over 15 times, I jumped at the opportunity to attend the Encanto Sing Along at the Kravis Center this week.
To prepare for this family outing, I made sure to buy my own little Latina Princesa a Mirabel costume. With our apple juices in tow and our vocal cords warmed up, we entered the theater ready for a show.
This was my first time attending a sing-along and I have to admit, I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know what parts would be live or if there would be any acting involved. With a 3-year-old and a freshly turned 6-year-old boy, I was worried they would be so distracted and soon ask to go home. Afterall, if Disney on Ice could barely hold their attention, how would this hold up? Not only did they enjoy the show, when I asked if they wanted to go home for intermission, they begged me to stay.
The show itself was a showing of the movie, with a live band who performed the songs as the film played behind it. Each member of the band was involved with the original recording of the Disney soundtrack, which added such a special feeling to each song. The host encouraged a special dance during the performance of “surface pressure” that the entire audience got on their feet for and danced to. We also loved “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and may have shed a tear or two during “Dos Orugitas”.
Ultimately, I would definitely go to a sing-along again, especially at the beautiful Kravis Center, which added such a grand feel to the show. This is a show for all ages, so bring the family and be sure to catch it!
