Rise Against at House of Blues Orlando
The Modern Day Punk Rock Heroes Ignite Orlando with an Incredible High-Energy Show – Photos and Review of the Rise Against Concert at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL
The legendary House of Blues in Orlando was charged with excitement this past Friday night as punk rock royalty Rise Against made a rare appearance at the historic, intimate venue for a sold-out performance. Bringing along their friends in Spiritual Cramp and L.S. Dunes for the ride, the show was primed for a night full of intense performances as each band brought its own blend of raw energy and grit to the stage and delivered an unforgettable experience to the eager fans.
Kicking things off was Spiritual Cramp, an up-and-coming San Francisco-based band blending post-punk and gritty rock with a unique intensity. They performed a tight set that combined fast tempos and unapologetic lyrics, energizing the early crowd with their infectious, rebellious spirit. Songs like “Blowback” and “Tenderloin” showed the band’s knack for capturing angst with catchy hooks and showcased the band’s recently released debut self-titled album. By the end of their set, Spiritual Cramp had managed to build a strong connection with the crowd and gained quite a few new fans, setting the stage for the night’s electrifying acts to follow.
Next up was L.S. Dunes, a supergroup formed by members of My Chemical Romance, Circa Survive, Thursday, and Coheed and Cambria. With the crowd now buzzing, L.S. Dunes delivered a high-energy set that showcased their individual talents and the chemistry they’ve developed as a band. Their combination of post-hardcore roots and alternative rock sensibilities struck a chord with the audience as the incredible ensemble of musicians displayed their chops. Ever-charismatic lead vocalist Anthony Green was magnetic, pouring raw feeling into each lyric and connecting with the crowd as he moved across the stage and kicked things off with “2022” and “Bombsquad“. Songs like “Permanent Rebellion” and “Benadryl Subreddit” brought heavy riffs and emotionally charged vocals, resonating deeply with fans who were quick to match the band’s intensity, and even though the band’s conception is relatively recent, you can tell they’ve already formed a loyal following that screamed back every lyric.
After L.S. Dunes’ mind-blowing set, Rise Against finally appeared on the stage as the venue erupted with applause and cheers from the adoring crowd, many clad in Rise Against tour shirts from as far back as 2005. Known for their politically charged lyrics and anthemic punk sound, the band did not disappoint as they kicked things off with “Satellite” and “Tragedy + Time“, led by singer-guitarist Tim McIlrath’s powerful vocals. Rise Against kept a high tempo throughout their set, seamlessly blending older classics from “Appeal to Reason” with newer material from their most recent albums, and the set was a testament to the bands ability to evolve musically while staying true to the values that have cemented their place in punk rock history.
The band’s crowd interaction was second to none, with McIlrath going into the crowd multiple times, speaking to the fans about issues close to the band’s heart, and even bringing up a fan to play guitar on “Hero of War“. Fans responded with fervor when the band played “Prayer of the Refugee“, and the crowd’s energy never waned as the band finished up their time on stage with their most famous songs “Black Masks and Gasoline” and “Savior“. As the final notes faded and fans began to file out, it was clear that Rise Against, alongside their friends in L.S. Dunes and Spiritual Cramp, had delivered a performance that will be on everyone’s mind for days to come. For those lucky enough to attend, this night at House of Blues Orlando was more than just a concert—it was a reminder of punk rock’s power to unite fans and inspire change.
