Houston, We Have Punchlines: Ali Saddiq and Marcus D. Wiley Land at the Kravis Center with Laughs for Every Culture!

September 20th, 2024

Ali Saddiq’s comedy show aka “Got a Story to Tell,” part of his whirlwind 100-city tour, hit West Palm Beach’s Kravis Center with the force of a hurricane—but one that leaves you laughing instead of boarding up windows. Known for his unmatched storytelling and on-point physical comedy, Saddiq had the audience in stitches, effortlessly weaving tales from his own life, including hilarious takes on his son, his wife, and the eternal struggle between generations. The way he moved from observations about race to family dynamics, to how youngsters today seem to have their own “unique” learning techniques, felt as natural as the laughter echoing throughout the theater.

Hailing from Houston, Saddiq brought a bit of Texas charm and a lot of humor, reminding everyone why he’s a standout in the comedy world. After winning Comedy Central’s Up Next competition and becoming a finalist on NBC’s Bring the Funny, Saddiq has mastered the art of finding humor in everyday situations and connecting with people of all backgrounds. Want more of his hilarious insights? Check him out HERE for more laughs.

Before Saddiq took the stage, the audience was warmed up by a DJ spinning some groove-inducing tracks, setting the perfect vibe for the night ahead. Enter Marcus D. Wiley, another Houston native and the evening’s opener, who quickly had the crowd nodding along in agreement (and laughter) as he dove into the differences between age groups—starting with the clueless 20-somethings and ending with the “I’ve seen it all” folks in their 70s. Wiley’s reflections on marriage, the awkwardness of sexual peaks, and his take on surviving the pandemic had the audience cracking up. He managed to blend humor with sharp observations, setting the tone for what was shaping up to be an unforgettable night. You can dive deeper into Wiley’s world HERE.

With Saddiq’s ability to bring people from different walks of life together under one roof (or tent, if you’re still thinking about hurricanes), the show felt like a celebration of culture, humor, and shared experiences. His physicality on stage, paired with his spot-on observations, made for a performance that kept the laughs coming all night long. Whether you’re in it for the relatable family stories, the cultural reflections, or just to see how many ways Saddiq can make you laugh with a single gesture, this tour is not one to miss.
