In another straight-set match, Taylor Fritz defeated Ricky Hijikata with a score of 6-3, 6-3. Unlike the previous day’s matches, today’s contests proceeded efficiently. Fritz, the top seed and defending DBO Champion, quickly took a lead by holding his serve and breaking Hijikata for a 2-0 advantage. Fritz continued to dominate, holding his serve and securing a 3-0 lead. While Hijikata managed to get on the board and showcase solid serving, Fritz demonstrated excellent returns and overall dominance, closing the set with numerous unreturned serves.

The second set saw Fritz starting strong with powerful returns, breaking Hijikata’s serve for a 2-0 lead. Despite Hijikata’s efforts, Fritz maintained pressure, pushing to deuce on the Australian’s serve. Hijikata showcased skill with a well-executed drop shot and a winner to hold serve. However, Fritz sustained his concentration and pressure, holding his serves until the end of the match.

Fritz’s performance highlighted why he is the No. 1 American male player, showcasing impressive movement, accurate serves, and precise strokes. The defending champion remains in contention for a back-to-back championship.
