The Office! A Musical Parody Packs Laughs And Nostalgia
“That’s What She Sang!” The Office Musical Delivers Cringe, Comedy and Catchy Chaos
April 16th, 2026
The Office is a show almost everyone remembers. With its lovable cast, awkward humor and classic moments like Kevin’s Famous Chili and the Dinner Party, it’s obvious this mockumentary has made a big impact on pop culture. So when my friend Kim, who’s a huge fan, and I heard that the Broward Center for the Performing Arts was putting on The Office! A Musical Parody, we cleared our schedules. The cast and musical numbers kept us laughing all night, making it a perfect outing for any fan.
The show was held in the cozy Abdo New River Room in the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and it felt more like walking into Dunder Mifflin than seeing a typical play. The cast quickly pulled the audience into familiar scenes with awkward silences, side glances and big expressions that matched the show’s documentary-style humor. What made this version stand out was not just how true it stayed to the original, but how it used music to make everything even more over-the-top. The songs turned classic scenes into big moments, both on and off stage, as they ran around the crowd, making office rivalries and awkward meetings even funnier and more memorable.
The show’s nods to the original series were both intentional and fun. Michael Scott’s need for approval came through in big musical numbers that made him even more lovable. Dwight’s “Assistant to the Regional Manager” was a highlight, brought out by sharp lyrics and fun choreography that fit his character perfectly. Even the smaller references, like mentions of the Scott’s Tots or the slow buildup to chaotic office moments, felt like inside jokes for fans. And yes, moments like Kevin’s chili disaster and the famously awkward dinner party were reimagined in ways that felt new, but still honored what made them so memorable.
What stuck with me after the final curtain was how real the whole experience felt. The audience wasn’t just watching a parody; everyone was sharing in a love for something that has brought people together for years. The laughter wasn’t just because the jokes were funny, but because everyone in the room got them. The production celebrated The Office’s legacy while creating its own style, full of music, energy, and real affection for the show. The Broward Center will hold this performance at various time until May 3rd. If you, or someone you love, is a fan of The Office, this is a perfect and unique night out.”
