The Burger Blend That Built a Following Now Has a Boca Address

Charm City Burger Company Expands to Boca Raton While Keeping Its Legendary Deerfield DNA Fully Intact.

February 17th, 2026

Eighteen years in and still packing tables, Charm City Burger Company has officially expanded into Boca Raton, and it did so without turning its back on the Deerfield Beach loyalists who built the brand.

General Manager Scott Burman oversees both locations, and from the start, one thing was clear. Expansion could never mean dilution.

“The loyal fans of Deerfield were always so good to us,” he explains. “They didn’t want to seem like they were leaving town and leaving them with nothing. So they went back to square one. Just keep it there. Keep it the same.”

That commitment to authenticity is why the new Boca location feels less like a second act and more like a natural extension. The crowd already reflects that. Since opening in late January, guests from Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and beyond have been filling seats, many discovering Charm City for the first time.

The Burger That Changed Everything

At the heart of Charm City is not hype. It is engineering.

Before opening, the owners worked in the meat industry. They knew cuts. They knew texture. They knew what most restaurants were getting wrong. What followed was years of experimentation in what Burman calls their burger lab. Short rib. Chuck. Sirloin. Brisket. Different ratios. Pressed. Tested. Tasted. Adjusted. Repeated.

“They worked for years trying to get the right amount of each,” Burman says. “They had expert opinions helping them. They came up with the perfect blend. They own the factory that’s making these burgers. It’s not made or sold anywhere else. You can only get that here.”

That proprietary blend became the foundation. Everything else supports it. The toasted bun. The layering technique that places toppings on the bottom for structural balance. The freshness of each ingredient.

“It’s hard to recall a taste you had 30 years ago,” Burman says. “But once you bite into the burger, you’ll know in one bite what we’re talking about.”

He speaks from experience. Thirteen years ago, he walked in as a customer and ordered the Southern Belle. He never stopped talking about it. Today, he runs the store.

The Southern Belle and the Big Sloppy

If there is one burger that represents Charm City’s competitive edge, it is the Southern Belle. During the early 2010s, the restaurant entered burger competitions and won. A wall full of accolades backs that up.

When guests ask what they should order, the answer comes quickly.

“The Southern Belle is our award winner.”

Still, not everyone comes in looking for balance. Some want spectacle. That is where the Big Sloppy enters. Stacked high with hash brown, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, sauce, and a fried egg, it is unapologetically over the top.

“Go for a jog before you eat it,” Burman laughs. “You won’t need dinner later.”

Even with the towering builds, the daily focus remains on quality over gimmick. The standard burgers outsell the monsters. The blend is the star.

More Than Just Beef

While burgers carry the spotlight, Charm City has quietly built depth across the menu.

The chicken sandwiches deserve more attention than they often get, featuring new hand breaded tenderloins that deliver crunch without losing moisture. The Gobbler, their house ground turkey burger, continues to earn loyal fans. For something unexpected, the ahi tuna sandwich layers seared tuna with Asian slaw, wasabi, soy, and lime.

Plant based diners are not left out. The new Double Smash Hippie veggie patty is already gaining traction.

And for those who lean toward heat or prefer things mild, the sauce lineup covers the spectrum. Some guests order their burgers plain. No sauce. No toppings. Just meat and bun.

“They just want to taste it.”

That confidence says everything.

The New Additions

Expansion did not mean standing still. Boca has already welcomed new items, including corn ribs and a charred broccoli Caesar that guests are embracing quickly.

Then there is dessert.

And dessert here is not an afterthought.

Engineered Endings

The hot brownie with ice cream is intentionally cooked so that the ice cream melts directly into the brownie upon contact. Stir it while it is still warm and it transforms into a rich brownie pudding, thick and indulgent, with chocolate folding into vanilla in real time.

The chocolate peanut butter half baked cookie follows the same philosophy. Warm center. Slight structure on the edges. Add ice cream and it melts into every crevice, creating a gooey and creamy contrast that feels deliberate rather than accidental.

“These are great clues to your dinner adventure,” one comment during our visit suggested with a grin.

Both desserts are baked in house. Brownies and cookies made right in the kitchen. No shortcuts. No frozen compromise.

Just like the burger blend, even the finale has been thought out.

If Charm City Had a Soundtrack

When asked what music genre best represents Charm City, Burman answers without hesitation.

Jazz.

“Smooth. Intense. Layered. All the instruments must play their part. It’s unpredictable. It’s spontaneous. It’s inspirational.”

Then he adds hip hop, acknowledging that the current generation might connect with that rhythm more easily.

It is a fitting analogy. The foundation is classic. The energy is current. Every component matters.

The Unwritten Rule

There is one unwritten rule before walking in.

Be honest with yourself after that first bite.

Burman has worked in countless restaurants and eaten thousands of burgers. Once he had Charm City’s blend, he knew.

“The quality of the food and the burger, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I’ve been in the business my whole life. I say it every day.”

For Boca Raton, this is not just another burger spot entering a crowded market. It is nearly two decades of refinement landing in a new zip code. For Deerfield Beach, it is reassurance that nothing has changed.

Same blend. Same structure. Same Southern Belle that started it all.

Charm City did not expand to chase trends. It expanded because the formula works.

And in one bite, you understand why.

Takay Omakase Miami Opening on Coral Way Brings an Intimate 10 Seat Dining Experience

Published

This 10-seat omakase opening in Miami is about to be one of the hardest reservations to get. Takay on Coral Way combines high-level sushi, intentional design, and a guest experience that feels personal from start to finish.

March 17, 2026

Miami, if you love a beautifully done omakase, this is one to have on your radar.

There is a new omakase concept opening this spring on Coral Way, and it already feels like the kind of place people will be trying to get into early. Takay is an intimate 10-seat experience created by founders Glen Kotlyarski and Yoni Matz, bringing together serious culinary pedigree with a very intentional, guest-focused vision.

Let’s start with the people behind it, because that is really what defines this concept.

Chef Glen Kotlyarski leads the culinary experience, bringing more than 2 decades of fine-dining expertise. His background includes the Jean Georges group and Miami’s Michelin-starred Hidden, and that level of precision and discipline is felt in every course. His approach draws from traditional Edomae sushi techniques, while staying grounded in seasonality and balance.

Alongside him, co-founder Yoni Matz brings a strong hospitality perspective shaped by years of building and operating restaurant concepts. His influence is clear in the overall experience, which is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and engaging rather than overly formal or intimidating.

And you feel that from the moment you arrive.

The space, designed by Japan based architecture firm KTX, is quietly stunning. Guests enter through a Japanese Zen garden, setting a calm and intentional tone before stepping inside. The interior blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with subtle Miami influence, featuring natural materials, soft lighting, and a sculptural wooden wave installation inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The entire room is designed to slow you down and bring your attention fully into the experience.

Takay’s omakase follows a classic Edomae style, with two nightly seatings, each centered on a 17- or 20-course progression. Seafood is flown in from Japan and paired with seasonal ingredients from local farms, allowing the menu to evolve continuously.

The experience moves through sashimi, nigiri, and composed dishes, with each course prepared directly in front of guests and thoughtfully explained. It feels interactive, personal, and immersive, making the entire evening feel intentional.

It strikes that rare balance where the experience feels polished and high-level, but still comfortable enough to fully enjoy without overthinking it.

When it opens, Takay will offer a 17-course signature omakase at $225 per person and a 20-course extended omakase at $275. Each seating includes a welcome beverage, with optional sake, champagne, and wine pairings available.

Takay is located at 2296 Coral Way in Miami and will be open Tuesday through Saturday with seatings at 6 pm and 9 pm.

In a city known for large, high-energy dining scenes, Takay introduces something a little more intimate and intentional. It is the kind of place that focuses on the details, and those are usually the ones that stand out the most.

Reservations are expected to be limited. Learn more HERE
