David Lee Roth Delivers a Night of Van Halen Classics

Still Larger Than Life, Diamond Dave Shines Bright With A Night of Pure Van Halen Nostalgia – Photos and Review of the David Lee Roth Concert at the Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood FL

Back from his short-lived retirement, legendary Van Halen singer David Lee Roth brought a dose of pure 80’s hard-rock nostalgia last night to a packed house at the iconic Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. With no opening act needed to warm up the crowd, Roth took the stage and delivered a high-energy performance packed with Van Halen classics, proving once again that age is just a number and Diamond Dave still knows how to command an audience.

From the moment Roth strutted onto the stage—decked out in his signature flashy leather attire and that unmistakable grin—the crowd erupted. Backed by a tight and talented band, he launched into Panama, kicking off a setlist that was a love letter to the Van Halen catalog—spanning the band’s biggest hits and deep cuts alike. Despite “retiring” in 2020, the 70-year old singer hasn’t slowed down one bit, jumping around the stage like a wild animal and outperforming modern rock-stars half his age with his antics.

Highlights of the night included blistering renditions of Runnin’ with the Devil“, Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love“, and a cover of The Kinks’ You Really Got Me“, with Roth’s trademark swagger and showmanship on full display. Performing in the shadow of the Seminole Hard Rock’s world famous guitar-shaped hotel, Roth’s show felt like a perfect pairing of rock ‘n’ roll history and modern spectacle. For longtime Van Halen fans, it was a bittersweet but joyous tribute to the legacy of Eddie Van Halen, whose spirit was undoubtedly felt in every riff.

Saving the best for last, Diamond Dave and the band blasted through scorching versions of VH classics “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love“, “Hot For Teacher” and “Everybody Wants Some!!“. The crowd sang along to every word of Jump“, the night’s euphoric closer, as Roth danced across the stage, soaking in the adoration from fans who grew up with these anthems. The absence of an opening act only emphasized the no-nonsense, hit-packed nature of the show—a true celebration of the music that made David Lee Roth a rock icon.
