Pure Flavor, Pure Life: A Taste of Pura Vida Miami

Toast of the Town: From Avocados to Ahi, Pura Vida Serves Up a Menu That’s Worth Going Coconuts Over.

July 8th, 2025

Over the past few decades, few things have become more detrimental to our health than the downfall of our food choices. The onslaught of processed, artificial and high-sugar foods has had devastating effects on our bodies from young to old. On top of that, much of the food available today is either bland or so oversaturated with additives that the initial flavor is completely lost.

Thankfully, there are places that are defined by their fresh and uncompromising ingredients like Pura Vida Miami. This health-conscious café highlights nutritious ingredients without hiding or masking them. You’ll get vibrant flavors without the guilt and without that heavy, bloated feeling afterward. In many ways, Pura Vida Miami has brought light to an otherwise darkened South Florida culinary landscape.

Though its name nods to the iconic Costa Rican expression, Pura Vida Miami is a concept all its own. In Costa Rica, Pura Vida — meaning “pure life” — represents a lifestyle of positivity, simplicity, and connection to nature. While Pura Vida Miami isn’t affiliated with the country, it embodies many of these same values through its clean, feel-good food and welcoming atmosphere.

The café reflects a love for uncomplicated, whole ingredients and the team there lets the food speak for itself. From fresh-pressed juices to thoughtfully crafted coffee and colorful bowls, each item on the menu is infused with intention and care.

Pura Vida Miami is a cafe that’s a reflection of these values. They take the simplicity of what life gives them and they show their love for it, by perfecting it. Every juice, every cup of coffee, every dish, and every bowl is stamped generously!

Now divulging deeper into their food and drinks, let’s see why their all-day menu is truly a standout not to be missed. Let’s start out with their artisan coffees and teas. Instead of the typical diner throwing a small tin of disgusting half & half, here you can choose between Whole Milk, Almond Milk, Oat Milk, or Pistachio Milk. Coffee is Pura Vida’s cornerstone and they are known for their high-quality brews and latte art, which is definitely a customer favorite! The decor of the cafe itself is a work of art as well, with tasteful accents in bright whites and neutrals that embody a surrounding of purity and simple elegance. I enjoyed my rich iced latte with pistachio milk sweetened with honey, so much so that I even crunched every last ice cube left in my cup!

If you want something unique and set apart from your standard Americano or Cappuccino, then their Blue Butterfly Latte is a must try. This soothing Pea Tea with local honey and ginger was such a welcome surprise. Being a fan of all things Matcha, I particularly loved their Strawberry Matcha Latte. This matcha, featuring a dose of health-boosting strawberry cowboy colostrum, is only available for a limited time and is so refreshing. Still, refreshing goes to another whole level when you talk about Pura Vida’s smoothies.

One thing both Costa Rica and Florida are known for is setting an industry standard in fruits and other produce. Their smoothies showcase that even better than some of the chain-smoothie shops found everywhere. Not only do they taste great, but they’re filled with antioxidants and immunity enhancers to boost. Some of their standout smoothies include the Playa Papaya, the Coco Azul and Welcome to Miami. We opted for the Chocolate PB smoothie and substituted the grass-fed whey chocolate protein for vanilla and added strawberries. It was a scrumptious meal in a cup, but I still found room for some other menu items.

One of the biggest healthy food trends going around right now is Acai Bowls. Seeing how colorful and deliciously appealing they all looked, I had to try one. I got Pura Vida’s newest featured bowl, the Crunchy Kiwi bowl. This frozen deliciousness had a base of raw acai blended with banana and was topped with precision sliced kiwi, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and vegan gluten free granola. I opted to have it drizzled with chocolate hazelnut spread and that was definitely the right decision! It was simply amazing!

Being an All-day Menu, you can get one of their incredible breakfast items like their Avocado Smash Toast, the Smoked Sammy, or my personal favorite, the Perfect Egg Sandwich with a perfect soft-boiled egg, fresh mozzarella, avocado, and arugula. Pura Vida also boasts some indulgent pastries, freshly made with coconut sugar and other sweeteners for a healthier treat.

Their breakfast selection is amazing, but if you’re not in the mood for breakfast they still have a wonderful assortment of lunchtime salads, sandwiches, and wraps. I hope to try their entire menu but some of the go-to’s for now are the Pesto Ahi Tuna wrap, the Summer Chicken bowl, and the baked empanadas. Pura Vida’s raw wild tuna can’t be beat, especially when paired with their fresh veggies and rich sauces. The seasonal Summer Chicken bowl was also a work of art with so many colors and flavors, it’s enough to send your head spinning! We also tried the chicken and beef empanadas and they did NOT disappoint. Pura Vida’s latin roots come through in this classic pastry snack with a healthier twist.

Pura Vida has truly thought of everyone with their menu and their staff is so careful to ask about any allergies or sensitivities. They also have a wonderful kid’s menu or Little Lunch Box that features smaller versions of their menu favorites catered to your kiddos and includes a cold-pressed juice and a mixed fruit cup. I’ve heard great things about the quesadilla!

The bottom line is this: we are bombarded with important decisions every single day and many of them can affect the course of our lives. It has been said that, ‘You are what you eat.’ So, why not eat something that is good for you, that will make you feel good, and tastes even better than good. Pura Vida Miami is more than just a healthy option, it’s a cultural Café destination with impeccable flavors and hospitality. Come experience it for yourself and see what Pura Vida is all about.

Takay Omakase Miami Opening on Coral Way Brings an Intimate 10 Seat Dining Experience

Published

on

This 10-seat omakase opening in Miami is about to be one of the hardest reservations to get. Takay on Coral Way combines high-level sushi, intentional design, and a guest experience that feels personal from start to finish.

March 17, 2026

Miami, if you love a beautifully done omakase, this is one to have on your radar.

There is a new omakase concept opening this spring on Coral Way, and it already feels like the kind of place people will be trying to get into early. Takay is an intimate 10-seat experience created by founders Glen Kotlyarski and Yoni Matz, bringing together serious culinary pedigree with a very intentional, guest-focused vision.

Let’s start with the people behind it, because that is really what defines this concept.

Chef Glen Kotlyarski leads the culinary experience, bringing more than 2 decades of fine-dining expertise. His background includes the Jean Georges group and Miami’s Michelin-starred Hidden, and that level of precision and discipline is felt in every course. His approach draws from traditional Edomae sushi techniques, while staying grounded in seasonality and balance.

Alongside him, co-founder Yoni Matz brings a strong hospitality perspective shaped by years of building and operating restaurant concepts. His influence is clear in the overall experience, which is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and engaging rather than overly formal or intimidating.

And you feel that from the moment you arrive.

The space, designed by Japan based architecture firm KTX, is quietly stunning. Guests enter through a Japanese Zen garden, setting a calm and intentional tone before stepping inside. The interior blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with subtle Miami influence, featuring natural materials, soft lighting, and a sculptural wooden wave installation inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The entire room is designed to slow you down and bring your attention fully into the experience.

Takay’s omakase follows a classic Edomae style, with two nightly seatings, each centered on a 17- or 20-course progression. Seafood is flown in from Japan and paired with seasonal ingredients from local farms, allowing the menu to evolve continuously.

The experience moves through sashimi, nigiri, and composed dishes, with each course prepared directly in front of guests and thoughtfully explained. It feels interactive, personal, and immersive, making the entire evening feel intentional.

It strikes that rare balance where the experience feels polished and high-level, but still comfortable enough to fully enjoy without overthinking it.

When it opens, Takay will offer a 17-course signature omakase at $225 per person and a 20-course extended omakase at $275. Each seating includes a welcome beverage, with optional sake, champagne, and wine pairings available.

Takay is located at 2296 Coral Way in Miami and will be open Tuesday through Saturday with seatings at 6 pm and 9 pm.

In a city known for large, high-energy dining scenes, Takay introduces something a little more intimate and intentional. It is the kind of place that focuses on the details, and those are usually the ones that stand out the most.

Reservations are expected to be limited. Learn more HERE
