No Passport Needed, Claudie Brings a Taste of France to Miami
Forks Up, Pinkies Out: Claudie’s French Riviera-Inspired Cuisine and Live Music Set the Perfect Stage for a Stylish Night Out in Brickell
July 9th, 2025
Tucked into the vibrant energy of Brickell lies a serene pocket of the French Riviera. At Claudie, sun-drenched flavors, elegant ambiance, and warm hospitality converge to create a truly transportive dining experience. This French-Mediterranean escape is rooted in “la cuisine du soleil,” or “sunshine cuisine,” a concept drawn straight from the South of France and the philosophy of legendary chef Roger Vergé. But make no mistake Claudie isn’t simply recreating the Riviera; it’s reimagining it with Miami flair.

At the heart of Claudie’s offerings is their limited-time Summer Prix Fixe Menu, available Sunday through Thursday until July 31. Priced at $85 per person, the four-course journey features a curated selection of their most vibrant seasonal dishes, a warm-weather celebration meant to be shared.
The evening begins with a chilled heirloom tomato gazpacho, finished with a swirl of basil oil and topped with a delicate edible gold flower. It’s bright, herbal and impossibly fresh, something that tastes like it was blended moments after the tomatoes left the vine. From the first spoonful, it sets the tone for a meal that is both refined and alive with sunlit flavor.
Appetizer selections continue to play with that same sense of balance and vibrance. The Shrimp Carpaccio, made with wild Argentinian shrimp and citrus vierge, is paper-thin and kissed with lime zest and fresh chives. It’s delicate but bold, and the acidity sings against the shrimp’s natural sweetness. The Fried Calamari, light and crisp, arrives with a minty basil salsa verde touched by honey and lemon, adding brightness to every bite. There’s also a standout Tomato Salad Oriente, sun-ripened tomatoes steeped in basil-infused tea and finished with basil oil that’s refreshing, subtly complex and plated like a watercolor painting.
Pistou, a regional favorite from Provence, makes a quiet appearance on the menu but speaks volumes with its simplicity and depth. It’s a nod to tradition that still feels modern and intentional. The appetizers offer variety without overwhelming, each dish distinct yet cohesive with the restaurant’s Riviera identity.
As the entrées arrive, the Branzino immediately steals the show. It comes resting beneath a rustic tomato viejo sauce composed of cherry tomatoes, Niçoise olives, capers and just enough vinegar to cut through with brightness. It’s deeply Mediterranean but surprisingly layered with a parade of bold, briny and sweet notes that caught me completely off guard in the best possible way.

Equally impressive is the Stone Creek Tenderloin, served perfectly sliced with a rich jus drizzled over the top. A side of Eggplant Caviar offers a smoky, earthy contrast that adds texture and balance. It’s a dish that delivers indulgence without heaviness, which feels like Claudie’s quiet signature.
Of course, the Truffle Toupie Macaroni had to be part of the experience. Described as a luxurious twist on French mac and cheese, it’s made with al dente pasta, Comté cheese and delicate strips of jambon. The truffle typically takes center stage, but in this case, I asked to have it served on the side. Truth be told, I just can’t hang with truffles, so I let my colleague indulge instead. Even without the truffle, the dish stood tall, its comfort food elevated to something elegant, nostalgic and thoroughly satisfying.
There are other gems as well, including Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli in a silky herb emulsion, and escargots prepared with French precision for those who crave a classic.
By the time dessert arrives, the Riviera mood has fully settled in. Claudie’s version of the tarte Tropézienne, a Saint-Tropez classic is both playful and indulgent. Pillowy brioche, light vanilla cream, and a kiss of citrus zest make each bite a soft, fragrant finish. However, the Apple Phyllo tart might just steal the spotlight. Thin layers of tart apple rest on delicate, crisp pastry, finished with powdered sugar, lemon and lime zest and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s breezy and elegant, the kind of dessert you linger over and likely brings you ever-so-sweet tears of joy.

What makes Claudie truly shine beyond the plate is the atmosphere and the people who shape it. The staff isn’t just attentive, they’re genuinely warm. Our server made the evening feel personal, offering thoughtful wine pairings and narrating the courses with a quiet passion that elevated the entire experience. That kind of care and grace can’t be trained, rather it has to come from a team that genuinely believes in the experience they’re curating.
Speaking of wine, the list leans toward French regional varietals, with an emphasis on subtlety over flash. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon mineral-forward and grounded was the perfect match for the meal. Unlike fruit-heavy Napa styles, this wine felt restrained, elegant and of the region, complementing every dish it touched. An ideal choice by our server.
Claudie doesn’t try to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it builds a world, one where music floats through the air nightly, where food tells stories of seaside towns and family kitchens, and where service feels like a warm welcome rather than a performance. It’s a restaurant that knows exactly what it is and delivers that experience with quiet confidence.
With the summer menu running through July 31 and Miami Spice just around the corner, now is the perfect time to step into this French escape. Whether you’re on a romantic date, sharing a celebratory meal, or simply seeking a moment of culinary calm in the middle of the city, Claudie offers a chance to drift away, if only for a night.

Takay Omakase Miami Opening on Coral Way Brings an Intimate 10 Seat Dining Experience
This 10-seat omakase opening in Miami is about to be one of the hardest reservations to get. Takay on Coral Way combines high-level sushi, intentional design, and a guest experience that feels personal from start to finish.
March 17, 2026
Miami, if you love a beautifully done omakase, this is one to have on your radar.
There is a new omakase concept opening this spring on Coral Way, and it already feels like the kind of place people will be trying to get into early. Takay is an intimate 10-seat experience created by founders Glen Kotlyarski and Yoni Matz, bringing together serious culinary pedigree with a very intentional, guest-focused vision.
Let’s start with the people behind it, because that is really what defines this concept.
Chef Glen Kotlyarski leads the culinary experience, bringing more than 2 decades of fine-dining expertise. His background includes the Jean Georges group and Miami’s Michelin-starred Hidden, and that level of precision and discipline is felt in every course. His approach draws from traditional Edomae sushi techniques, while staying grounded in seasonality and balance.
Alongside him, co-founder Yoni Matz brings a strong hospitality perspective shaped by years of building and operating restaurant concepts. His influence is clear in the overall experience, which is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and engaging rather than overly formal or intimidating.
And you feel that from the moment you arrive.
The space, designed by Japan based architecture firm KTX, is quietly stunning. Guests enter through a Japanese Zen garden, setting a calm and intentional tone before stepping inside. The interior blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with subtle Miami influence, featuring natural materials, soft lighting, and a sculptural wooden wave installation inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The entire room is designed to slow you down and bring your attention fully into the experience.

Takay’s omakase follows a classic Edomae style, with two nightly seatings, each centered on a 17- or 20-course progression. Seafood is flown in from Japan and paired with seasonal ingredients from local farms, allowing the menu to evolve continuously.
The experience moves through sashimi, nigiri, and composed dishes, with each course prepared directly in front of guests and thoughtfully explained. It feels interactive, personal, and immersive, making the entire evening feel intentional.
It strikes that rare balance where the experience feels polished and high-level, but still comfortable enough to fully enjoy without overthinking it.
When it opens, Takay will offer a 17-course signature omakase at $225 per person and a 20-course extended omakase at $275. Each seating includes a welcome beverage, with optional sake, champagne, and wine pairings available.
Takay is located at 2296 Coral Way in Miami and will be open Tuesday through Saturday with seatings at 6 pm and 9 pm.
In a city known for large, high-energy dining scenes, Takay introduces something a little more intimate and intentional. It is the kind of place that focuses on the details, and those are usually the ones that stand out the most.
