Styx and Foreigner: Renegades and Juke Box Heroes
The Legendary Rock N Roll Acts Team Up For One Last Trek Together Across the States – Photos and Review of the Styx and Foreigner Concert at the iThink Financial Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL
This past weekend, concert-goers got to experience a night of musical nostalgia and electrifying performances in a once-in-a-lifetime event (or at least one that wont be happening again any time soon). The show was nothing short of spectacular as Styx and Foreigner took the stage at the iThink Financial Amphitheater for their very last tour together, aptly titled “Juke Box Heroes and Renegades“. Opening the show was the legendary John Waite, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening of amazing tunes by legendary musicians.

Singer-Songwriter John Waite kicked off the concert with a performance that was both heartfelt and powerful, delivering an amazing display to the early attendees. Waite’s setlist included fan favorites like “Change” & “Missing You” and deep cuts from his time in The Babys and Bad English, showcasing his vocal prowess and masterful guitar skills. His charismatic stage presence and timeless hits warmed up the crowd, setting the stage for what was to come, and he finished up his performance with a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love“.

Next up was Styx, the iconic rock band whose blend of progressive rock and pop elements has captivated audiences for decades. The lights and smoke flashed behind the band as Styx rushed onto the stage and kicked into “The Grand Illusion” and began taking the audience on a journey through their extensive catalog of hits. Songs like “Lady” and “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)” and “Come Sail Away” had the crowd singing along with the band as their incredible musicianship was on full display.

Guitarists Tommy Shaw and James Young delivered a high-energy performance, complete with impressive guitar solos and harmonies, and Singer-Keyboardist Lawrence Gowan shared lots of interactions with the enthusiastic crowd. Styx’s set was a perfect blend of their classic hits while still including some newer material like 2021’s “Crash of the Crown“, ensuring that both longtime fans and new listeners were fully locked in. Styx finished their time on stage with an incredible encore of their two biggest hits, “Mr. Roboto” and “Renegade“, before disappearing backstage as the crowd cheered with rapturous applause.

As the final act of the night, Foreigner delivered a show-stopping performance that had the entire amphitheater on its feet and singing along to their massive library of hits. Led by their charismatic frontman Kelly Hansen, the band delivered a high-energy set that spanned their extensive catalog of hits. Blasting off with “Double Vision“, “Head Games” and “Cold as Ice“, Foreigner immediately captured the audience’s attention. Kelly Hansen dynamic stage presence and powerful voice did justice to the band’s legacy, while Bruce Watson’s guitar solos were nothing short of spectacular.

Foreigner’s setlist was a greatest hit parade, featuring timeless classics such as “Waiting for a Girl Like You“, “Dirty White Boy“, “Feels Like The First Time” and “Juke Box Hero“. Each song was met with enthusiastic cheers and loud sing-alongs from the crowd, as they relived the the soundtrack to their greatest years. The band even brought out a local children’s Choir for an incredible encore of “I Want to Know What Love Is” and “Hot Blooded“.

For fans of classic rock, this concert was a dream come true, offering a chance to relive the music that has defined generations. The combination of John Waite’s emotive performance, Styx’s captivating set, and Foreigner’s epic finale made for a concert that attendees will not soon forget. Whether it was the first or twentieth time seeing the bands, it was a night where timeless music and unforgettable memories were created, leaving everyone in attendance with a lasting impression of a truly remarkable show.
