Bianca Marroquín Shines at 54 Below in the Rinker
From Broadway to Personal Stories, Bianca Marroquín Gives Spellbinding Performance at 54 Below.
January 11th, 2024
Bianca Marroquín’s recent performance at 54 Below was nothing short of a mesmerizing journey through her life, artistry and cultural heritage. The intimate setting of 54 Below provided the perfect backdrop for an evening filled with heartfelt storytelling and breathtaking music.
The triple threat shared with the audience highlights from her career, including her roles in Beauty and the Beast in Mexico City, and her experiences as a swing in both Rent and Phantom of the Opera. Her portrayal of Roxie Hart in Spanish was a standout moment, and her experiences about the challenges and pleasures of playing Velma in the famous Broadway show Chicago added depth to the evening.
Marroquín’s animated stage presence and technically flawless dance performances truly showcased her skills. Her rendition of “All That Jazz” showcased an outstanding vocal range, and the contrast from her previous role as Rose, which was truly captivating. Not only that, but each movement despite the small stage, was performed with execution, and the perfect “Fosse” hands.
The showcase took an emotional turn when Marroquín shared her experience after Dancing with the Stars (in Spanish), revealing that her mother had passed away during that time. Her vulnerability during this part of this show allowed the audience to resonate with her deeply, turning the show into more than just a performance but a shared experience.
After each experience shared was followed by a song from either her own album, or another artist. “Stars and the moon” originally written by Jason Robert Brown, was a song Marroquín sang and executed flawlessly. Hitting each high note with ease, her raw emotion truly shined through in this part of the show. Even rows back from the front of the stage, you were still able to feel a physical and emotional connection to her.
The interaction with the audience was a highlight, as Marroquín engaged us with questions between each song. One of her final songs, a touching tribute to her best friend who had passed away, left the audience in a contemplative and emotional state.
Bianca Marroquín’s performance with Tommy Gallagher at 54 Below was a night of artistry, emotion, and celebration—a truly unforgettable experience that resonated with every member of the audience.
54 below at the Rinker is a series hosted by the Kravis Center that brings you a unique and intimate performance, engaging the audience greatly.
