Thriller night in West Palm
The Man, The Music, The Moonwalk: MJ The Musical Showcases The Genius Behind The Glove.
February 10th, 206
MJ The Musical at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach was a performance experience unlike any other to hit the venue’s stage. From the opening number through the final curtain call, the production delivered a nonstop surge of energy, talent, and nostalgia that kept the audience fully locked in. With more than forty musical numbers woven throughout the show, it was nearly impossible not to tap your feet or nod your head along to the rhythm of Michael Jackson’s legendary catalog.
The story traces Michael Jackson’s evolution from his early days as a child star in the Jackson 5 to his rise as a global icon, framed through the creative process leading up to the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Rather than simply retelling his life chronologically, the musical dives into the mindset, work ethic, and artistic drive that fueled his superstardom. It explores the pressures placed on him by his father, Joseph Jackson, and how that relentless push for perfection shaped both his brilliance and his internal struggles.
Portraying the King of Pop on the First National Tour is Jordan Markus in the title role of ‘MJ,’ delivering a performance that captures the voice, movement, and magnetic stage presence fans associate with Michael Jackson. Markus, an original touring cast member, fluidly channels MJ’s signature style, from subtle vocal inflections to the explosive choreography that defined his concerts. He is supported by Brandon Lee Harris as ‘Michael,’ and young standouts Quentin Blanton Jr. and Bryce A. Holmes sharing the role of ‘Little Michael,’ each bringing authenticity to the different stages of Jackson’s life.
The supporting cast adds emotional depth and narrative balance throughout the production. Devin Bowles commands the stage as Joseph Jackson and Rob, while J. Daughtry takes on Berry Gordy and Nick. Michael Nero appears as Tito Jackson and Quincy Jones, with Rajané Katurah portraying Katherine Jackson and Kate. Kristin Stokes, Jed Resnick, and Kevin Cruz round out key supporting roles that help move the story between rehearsal studio reflection and concert spectacle.
Beyond the principals, the ensemble plays a major role in driving the show’s momentum. High-energy group numbers, precision dance sequences, and seamless transitions are powered by a versatile company that includes swings, standbys, and dance captains who keep the production running like a well-oiled machine night after night.

Visually, the show is just as impressive as it is musically. Scenic design by two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Derek McLane creates dynamic environments that shift from rehearsal studios to full concert arenas. Lighting design by seven-time Tony Award winner Natasha Katz heightens the drama and scale of each performance, while Paul Tazewell’s costume design recreates some of MJ’s most iconic looks. P
Direction and choreography from Christopher Wheeldon stand at the core of the production’s impact. Every movement, from the moonwalk to full ensemble routines, is executed with precision and reverence to MJ’s original style while still feeling theatrical and fresh. The musical book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage adds emotional weight, giving audiences insight into the collaborative spirit and relentless ambition that fueled Jackson’s artistry.
Musical highlights are woven throughout the production, building toward show-stopping recreations of MJ’s biggest hits. As the performance moves closer to its finale, the energy inside Dreyfoos Hall becomes electric. By the time the closing medley arrives, the crowd is on its feet, cheering, singing, and celebrating the legacy of one of entertainment’s most influential figures.
Running approximately three hours, MJ The Musical never loses its grip on the audience. The combination of storytelling, choreography, live vocals, and concert staging creates an experience that resonates with multiple generations. Whether lifelong fans or casual listeners, attendees leave the theater energized and reminded of Michael Jackson’s unparalleled impact on music and performance.

As part of the Kravis On Broadway series, MJ made its West Palm Beach premiere February 10–15, bringing a Tony Award-winning global phenomenon to South Florida audiences. The production, which has thrilled millions worldwide across Broadway, national tours, London’s West End, and beyond, continues to showcase why the King of Pop’s influence remains timeless. For fans of live theater, pop music history, or high-caliber touring Broadway productions, MJ The Musical is more than a tribute. It is a full-scale celebration of the creative genius, relentless drive, and timeless catalog that cemented Michael Jackson’s place as one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
