Go Deep, Then Go Wild: Indiana Caverns Brings Together Caves, Coasters, and Creatures for the Ultimate Experience.

September 28th, 2025

There’s something so surreal and fantastical about visiting caverns far below the earth. You’re experiencing the wonderment of creation in an ever-changing and growing variant of time and naturalistic history. Formations so seldom seen by the naked eye help generate an inner apathy for the earth itself.

I’ve visited caverns in 6 different states (Kentucky, South Dakota, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and Indiana) and each one of them had their own highlights and reasons for visiting them. One cavern stood out, though, for its diversity and multiple family-friendly, on-site attractions and that’s the Indiana Caverns located in Corydon, Indiana.

Since it opened in 2013 as part of the Binkley Cave, Indiana Caverns (the largest cavern in the state of Indiana and the seventh largest in America), has grown underground and above ground. More than just a cave tour, it’s now a destination to experience hours of fun. Indiana Caves has a nice, shaded nature walk trail, and at the head of it is a place called Pygmy Playground where you can feed and pet their adorable goats. Don’t worry about wasting a little money on food, they’re most-likely hungry and very sociable.

Outside, though, most people are looking up with the right mixture of excitement and fear. That’s caused by the Bat Chaser Zipline Coaster. This is the perfect, one-of-a-kind, on-site attraction for those wanting to experience a little thrill. If you’d like to add even more, then you can jump off of the top tower in what they call The Plunge.

Indiana Caverns has a special entrance for the kids called Sabertooth Cavern where they can Discover the Golden Skull. Kids are given light-up helmets and equipment and led below ground on an adventure that they won’t soon forget. Roaming around outside, make sure you say hi to the big boss, a fluffy orange cat aptly named Sabertooth.

The main entrance and Cave Tour was so much more than I expected. Our guide, Erica, was top-notch and gave us a wonderful history lesson of the cave system and all of its features. She patiently pointed out everything to our group, answering every question, and she brought just the right level of humor to our tour as well.

This tour stood out to me due to the fact that as we were walking out, all of the wonderful formations that you would want to see in a cavern tour were on display as well as so much more. We saw tons of Ice-Age animal bones, a waterfall, living cave creatures, and not to mention, a full cave boat tour, that’s all included!

We were staying in another state, Kentucky at the time, but Indiana Caverns was only a half-hour away and we got to cross the beautiful Ohio River (with all of its beautiful bridges) en route. With its accessible location, beautiful caverns, and on-site attractions, Indiana Caverns is a must-visit destination and one that you’ll be telling everyone about.
