Rob Thomas Lights Up Mizner Park
The Matchbox Twenty Frontman Brought His Charismatic Charm to Mizner Park for an Unforgettable Night of Hits – Photos and Review of the Rob Thomas Concert at the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, FL
It was hot one this past Sunday, but that didn’t deter throngs of fans from transforming the scenic Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton into a musical sanctuary as Rob Thomas, the multi-platinum artist and Matchbox Twenty frontman, took over the stage for an unforgettable performance under the stars on his South Florida stop of his All Night Days Tour. The intimate open-air venue, surrounded by the charming boutiques and palm-lined streets of downtown Mizner Park, provided an idyllic setting for fans who had eagerly awaited a night of hit songs, soulful vocals, and Rob’s electric stage presence.

The evening kicked off with a heartfelt set by A Great Big World, the Grammy-winning duo normally composed of Ian Axel and Chad King, but with touring guitarist Chris Cubeta filling in for Chad on this tour. Showcasing a mix of their originals and covers like “Teenage Dirtbag“, their harmonies and genuine connection with the audience (along with heartfelt storytelling between songs) set the tone for a night of great music. The crowd swayed along to their breakout hit “Say Something” as well as other fan favorites like “This Is the New Year“, and the band did a great job winning over some new fans that have never heard of them before.

As the sky darkened and the amphitheater lights shimmered, Rob Thomas emerged from the shadows backstage to thunderous applause. Dressed in his signature laid-back casual style, he launched into “I Believe It“, an upbeat new track from his solo catalog that immediately got the crowd on their feet, shaking and moving. Thomas’s setlist was a masterful blend of Matchbox Twenty classics (“3 AM“, “If You’re Gone“), solo hits (“Lonely No More“), new songs (“All Night Days“), and even some covers (INXS’ “New Sensation” and of course, Santana’s “Smooth“), ensuring that both longtime fans and newcomers were fully engaged in the show of a lifetime, and his voice sounded as strong as ever, effortlessly navigating his discography.

Rob Thomas’s charisma was undeniable—between songs, he shared stories about his illustrious career, joked with the audience, and expressed his love for performing live. His all-star backing band—including his 27 year old son Maison Thomas-Eudy on guitar—was incredibly locked in, their tight musicianship on full display as the pristine acoustics of the amphitheater made every note resonate beautifully. As the night closed with an encore of his most famous song “This Is How a Heart Breaks“, the crowd left buzzing, already reminiscing about an incredible show. Whether you’re a longtime Rob Thomas fan or a newcomer to his music, last night’s concert was truly something to behold, indisputable evidence of his enduring talent and ability to connect with his audience.
