Two Door Cinema Club Battle the Heat to Deliver an Epic Concert to South Florida Fans – Photos and Review of the Two Door Cinema Club Concert at Miami’s FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park

After 17 years of missing out on the paradise that is South Florida, Two Door Cinema Club made the long trek from Northern Ireland to sunny Miami Beach to bring their amazing live show to Florida fans that have been dying to see them throughout their illustrious career. Kicking off the show was Florida native indie band FlipTurn, hailing all the way from Jacksonville. I hadn’t heard of the band before the show, leading me to be very impressed with the band’s synergy and musical ability, and its great to see that the new crop of musicians is still out there killing it! We also got to see the debut of some songs from their upcoming album, and they finished their time on stage with “Space Cowboy” (which seemed to be their most famous song, judging by how loud the crowd cheered).

Finally the main event was set to begin. With the heat index crossing 100 Degrees, hot enough to cause a brief power delay only minutes into the show, Two Door Cinema Club played to a packed house of enthusiastic fans. Led by vocalist Alex Trimble, in one of his snazzy suits, the band gave it their all, putting on an incredible show with exceptional vocals, electric beats, solid guitar, and slammin’ drums. The diverse and energetic crowd grooved and sang along as the band offered a healthy serving of favorites, and exhibited the evolution of their sound – with songs evoking a wide range of feelings from happiness, love, loss, hope, motivation, and cynicism.

No single, conventional music category applies easily to Two Door Cinema Club. It’s rock, it’s pop, it’s electronic, it’s synth, it’s dance, it’s punk. I was first introduced to Two Door Cinema Club’s music through the FIFA soccer video game, and that may be the best way to lovingly describe them, as “FIFA music” – a special upbeat, eclectic, and diverse blend known to a generation of video game conisuerriers. Two Door Cinema Club was sure to cover these fan favorites including “Sleep Alone,” “I Can Talk,” and “Are We Ready? (Wreck).

After a few more of my personal favorites including “Something Good Can Work, “Next Year,” “Bad Decisions,” and “Costume Party,” I was worried Alex might melt, but there was no stopping him from taking off. Set the reaction/Ticket to ride/Reckless abandon/Time on your side/Into the future/The water is fine/We’re going places! (“Satellite”). From there, the band closed out the night with hits including “Undercover Martian,” “Cigarettes in the Theater,” “Sun,” and last but certainly not least, “What you Know.”

If you’re lucky to catch Two Door Cinema Club live, be prepared for an energetic evening of dancing and singing along. Be sure to catch the band at upcoming stops on their US town in North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Mass., Illinois, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Texas, Missouri, and Minnesota.
