New Found Glory Performs on 20 Year Anniversary Tour at Revolution Live
27 songs. 2 full length albums. 1 night. 20 years of celebration. New Found Glory delivers.
May 12th, 2017
New Found Glory was welcomed home to a sold-out Revolution Live, packing 1,300 moist bodies into the outside amphitheater. The 90 degree heat settled into the damp night and slight Atlantic breeze. The four Coral Springs natives celebrated their 20th year together making music with a North American tour and the release of their ninth studio album, New Found Glory Makes Me Sick, which dropped April 28th. The full length features a rejuvenated sound with recent hits, “Happy Being Miserable” and “Party on Apocalypse.” Both tracks were revealed throughout the tour where the boys played two random albums in their entirety each night. The homecoming Ft. Lauderdale show featured their albums Catalyst and Sticks and Stones, the ladder housing their most well-known track, “My Friends Over You.”
Many expected a reprise of the 10 Year Self-Titled Anniversary Tour where they played the entire album start to finish. Instead, the creative insight of the South Florida quartet lead to both albums’ songs played intertwined. The end result was an expressed catharsis of many diehard fans thankful for some mystery in the set list though the songs were expected. The feelings were still the same, even after 20 years of watching the band evolve. This crowd was here to stay.
Not many bands remain in the industry for the fans, but these guys make sure to take every moment they aren’t playing their fingers numb to thank those in attendance. The multiple stage dives, handing the mic to crowds of people, and even allowing a fan to sing along on stage; these are the moments of gratitude that create epic, everlasting memories for those committed few. This is what leads to a band’s longevity, and possibly, the fuel for another nine albums. Fingers crossed.
