Shady Pines Calls as Golden Girls Get Wild

Picture It: The Golden Girls Take Over the Kravis Center with Cheesecake, Sharp Tongues and Questionable Life Choices.

October 25th, 2026

Sophia is out on bail, Blanche and Rose are running a dating app for seniors, and Dorothy has a new love interest. The familiar rattan furniture may look the same, but The Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue takes its beloved characters well beyond their television adventures.

This high-camp romp down memory lane brought plenty of laughs to the Kravis Center, along with a generous helping of adult humor. Fans expecting the sass of the original sitcom certainly got it, though the language and situations were considerably more risqué.

The beloved television series, which aired from 1985 to 1992, followed four women sharing a house in Miami: the smart, sarcastic Dorothy Zbornak, her sharp-tongued Sicilian mother Sophia Petrillo, flirtatious Southern belle Blanche Devereaux and delightfully naïve Rose Nylund. Their late-night gatherings around the kitchen table, complete with cheesecake and conversation, remain as enjoyable today as they were when the show first aired.

Written by Robert Leleux, Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue provides a creatively reimagined visit with the four friends, played quite convincingly by men. The rise of the curtain reveals the same wonderful rattan living room furniture, with its peach floral cushions, that fans know and love.

We quickly learn that Sophia is under house arrest, complete with an ankle monitor, after being caught selling drugs to residents of Shady Pines. Meanwhile, Blanche and Rose have created CreakN, a risqué dating app for seniors. Business is booming, and keeping up with its demands is becoming a challenge. Dorothy, usually occupied with everyone else’s problems, finds herself enjoying a little romance of her own.

Just to add to the mayhem, an unsuspecting Rose eats a piece of Sophia’s LSD-laced cheesecake. Her resulting trip is one of the humorous highlights of the show.

The chemistry among the cast members is comedic gold, with each actor capturing the quirks and personality that made his character so memorable.

Dorothy is still the smart, sarcastic one, and her trademark baritone speaking voice is admirably captured by Chris Davis. His delivery provides a familiar anchor amid the increasingly outrageous circumstances.

Vince Kelley gets Blanche’s walk and facial expressions spot on. He makes the most of her audience interaction and certainly seems to have fun doing it all. Kudos also to the costume designer for Blanche’s ensembles, which were near-perfect replicas of ones worn in the series.

Rose’s innocent and often absurd stories about her hometown of St. Olaf are kept to a minimum, as she has so much else to do. I cannot imagine a better vocal imitation of Rose than the one provided by Adam Graber.

Sophia’s blunt, no-nonsense advice is well delivered by Christopher Kamm, who keeps her familiar bite intact. Tommy Favorite rounds out the cast as Stan and Burt.

Will Sophia wind up in jail? Will Dorothy find her soulmate? Will Blanche and Rose become millionaires? There is plenty of mischief to keep these friends busy, and the cast makes their unlikely adventures an entertaining night out.

The subject matter is new, the dialogue is blue, and the pop-culture references come rapid-fire. In the end, what more can you say about this live, campy visit with the Golden Girls other than, “Thank you for being a friend!”
