Six Feet Under and Nile Bring Double Trouble to the Culture Room
Two of the Biggest Bands in Death Metal Co-Headline to Deliver an Incredible Night of Energy to South Florida – Photos and Review of the Six Feet Under and Nile Concert at the Culture Room in Ft Lauderdale, Florida
South Florida Heavy Metal fans were treated to an unforgettable night at the Culture Room this past weekend as Death Metal heavyweights Nile and Six Feet Under brought their brutality to the stage. Nile’s intricate, Egyptology-themed technical death metal paired perfectly with Six Feet Under’s groove-driven intensity to create a crushing double bill of metal mayhem. Adding to the night’s raw energy were Psycroptic, with their precision-laden technical wizardry, and Embryonic Autopsy, who opened the show with a blistering barrage of guttural riffs.

Kicking off the night was Embryonic Autopsy, a Chicago based band who delivered a relentless set of death metal brutality. With a focus on themes of science fiction and body horror, the band blended vicious vocals, intricate guitar riffs, and relentless drumming to captivate early arrivals. Their energy was contagious, setting a high bar for the evening and leaving the crowd primed for the onslaught to follow.

Next up was Australian tech-death outfit Psycroptic, and their razor-sharp riffs, complex time signatures, and precise execution showcased the band’s musicianship at its finest. Tracks like “Frozen Gaze” and “The Watcher of All” stood out, demonstrating why Psycroptic has been a cornerstone of the tech-death scene for over two decades. The crowd erupted into frenzied pits, and the energy they elicited was a testament to Psycroptic’s ability to engage the fans and overwhelm the senses with their sonic assault.

Six Feet Under, led by the ever-controversial Chris Barnes, took the stage next. Opening with fan-favorite “Torn to the Bone“, the band launched into a set filled with groove-heavy death metal anthems. Barnes’ guttural growls and infamous pig squeals resonated through the venue to the point where you could hear them outside of the club, and the rhythm section’s thunderous precision had heads banging throughout. Iconic tracks like “The Day The Dead Walked” and “Seed of Filth” had the crowd moshing the entire time, and they finished up their time on stage with covers of a couple of iconic Cannibal Corpse tracks like “Hammer Smashed Face“, which showcased the band’s knack for combining raw heaviness with undeniable crowd-pleasing moments. The energy was palpable, and the sheer intensity of Six Feet Under’s performance and the Barnes’ stage presence ensured that their set was a highlight of the evening.

Closing out the show with a bang was Nile, whose Egyptian Mythology-themed technical death metal offered a thrilling finale to an already packed night. From the moment they launched into “Stelae of Vultures” and “To Strike With Secret Fang“, Nile displayed an unmatched level of precision and ferocity. Karl Sanders and Zach Jeter’s intricate guitar work was mesmerizing, weaving complex riffs and soaring solos that left the audience in awe. Nile’s setlist leaned heavily on classics from throughout their extensive catalog, including “Defiling the Gates of Ishtar” and “Sarcophagus“, but also included newer material from their most recent album “The Underworld Awaits Us All” that demonstrated their continued evolution. George Kollias’ drumming was a standout, his lightning-fast blasts and double-bass work anchoring the band’s sound with jaw-dropping skill. The night ended with their most famous song “Black Seeds of Vengeance“, leaving the audience thoroughly exhausted yet exhilarated by Nile’s epic performance.
